How often do you buy new clothes

So, since we take pride on our appearance we have low self-esteem? lol, that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all week.
Do you spend ages styling your hair in the morning like a girl?? this is important.
I take some time styling my hair in the morning, yeah
I wouldn't say it's like a girl though, I don't think that's fair. I just like to have my hair styled in a certain way.
Well, I just said that's how I perceive it.
You see, if you care how other people see you, then you need to take care over your appearance. We all care a bit, so tend to wear something at least a bit respectable.
But to care so much as to buy the slightly absurd quantity of clothes that some do requires a level of caring about your appearance at such an intensity as to suggest (to me, at least) some form of personal inadequacy. To be so obsessed with presenting a particular version of yourself just seems pretty alien to me.
I've already conceded I might just be old fashioned (early 30s, you see - I'm a few years out of touch)

In fairness, there is historical precedence for this. Men in the 17th and 18th century wore wigs and make-up. By their standards, you're a temple of masculinity...

Casual - I tend to get a load of new stuff for summer and then another lot of clothes for winter so twice a year I suppose.
Work - as necessary. I probably buy 7 or 8 new shirts each year and then pass the old ones off to the local charity shop. I rarely need to buy new suits so this is much less frequent. Shoes, probably twice a year. I rarely buy new ties.

Like you said, even if we deny it, we all care about how we are perceived.
I'm too old to really care what people think of me. I'm past that (I'm also early 30s). I get bored wearing the same clothes over and over again. I guess to me it's like listening to a song over and over again. You'll ultimately end up getting bored and want to listen to something new.

Depends on the length of my hair, sometimes it's about four inches long but at the moment it's probably just over two. The longer it is, the easier it is to style, so I guess around a minute to style when short, and about 30 seconds when long.
But I wouldn't feel great about myself leaving the house if it wasn't styled. If that makes me inadequate by some peoples standards on here then fair enough.
Well seeing as you would probably feel bad if you weren't wearing nice clothes I'd say your self esteem can't be fantastic.
Like if you walked out of your house on washing day wearing some old clothes your friends would take the **** maybe?
I'm happy whether I'm naked, in a suit or wearing hot pants and a tshirt that expresses my love for a moon mans meaty appendage. All the same to me, anyone who knows me knows that and anyone who doesn't can sod off anyway.

Whenever they need replacing, I have more important/fun things to spend my money on.
I'm sorry to bunk your idea but just because I buy a lot of clothes, doesn't mean that I don't have old clothes either. I'm hardly going to get all dressed up to nip to the shops or go food shopping. I'll wear my old clothes that I lounge around the house in. **** me, my joggers are like 8 years old and have a few holes. If my self esteem was directly affected to the way I dress you may have a point but since it's not, you don't.
Used to buy fairly frequently but not often anymore.
Need to buy new jeans and a new suit jacket because my old ones don't fit

The in laws bought me three beautiful shirts back from USA about 25 yrs ago - wife is now threatening to bin them just because collars are frayed - rest of shirt is fine - Mind - the same goes for rest of my clothes - anything that fits around my neck is frayed and my jeans have a worn patch at top of left leg where we men scratch ourselves. 
Shoes are my favourite - buy a new pair regardless every 5 yrs.

Almost every month, if I see something I like then chances are I'll end up buying it. Normally pick up a new pair of trainers/footwear every 2-3 months.
