How often do you upgrade your CPU and Motherboard

Only when I have to... I can see my 13600k and 6800 xt going for a good few more years yet.

Maybe when we are on ddr7 and a good 4k gaming card doesn't cost more than what my car is worth... lol!

Probably every 5 years or so. Had my 3900x / AM4 setup for about 5 years and only just replaced the CPU with a 5950x as it was a relatively cheap upgrade. Will probably wait until AM6 is available and mature before swapping platform.
 
Still running my overclocked 8700K and 2080 and it still amazes me how modern games still run well, monitor 3440x1440

I am thinking of going to 4K so after 6 years I think it's time for a big spend.

Used to be every 5 years or so for me - Went from... i7 920 > i7 4770k > i9 9900k.

Still rocking the 9900k, which is pushing 7 years now.
I've toyed with upgrading the last few years, but as I play at 4k, gains appear to be minimal in games & tbh, I tend to play older games like Civ5/OpenRA interspaced with Fortnite.
I do the GPU more often - Currently have an RTX4080
 
My recent history is

Intel 2500k
Intel 5820k
Ryzen 7900(non-X)

Don't see a reason why is need to upgrade for years, CPU is plenty even for pretty heavy non-gaming workloads.
 
Upgrade every few years, as the lads in the house drip like a leaky tap when their rig gets too old and the bank of dad gets involved.
 
I used my 2500k for eight years before I took the rig apart, seems like it would keep going from what I can tell. The Asus P8Z68 started to cause problems (I am assuming it was that, but I don't know definitely) after five years. I would want my mobo and cpu to last at least five years before upgrading.
 
I don't game as often as I used to and I don't play the latest titles so keeping up-to-date isn't as important as it would used to be. Given my lifestyle and current life priorities I'll probably hang on to my 3600/6600XT combo until AM6 comes along.
 
my parents are still using my old 2500k 4gb pc; bought it from ocuk members market and still working after 14 years :cool: geekbench 6 scored it at 626 single and 1800~ multi core. Thinking of giving them my next oldest 8700k 16gb build which would put them up to about 1600~/6800~ scores and move them on to SSD.

They don't actually think the 2500k build is slow, but it's on W10 which is EOL soon anyway

I'm usually just on latest or 1 gen old nowadays
 
Usually get upgrade itch but more recently I held onto board for a while (AM4 X570).

Recent years 4790K,7700K,9900K,threadripper/10900K/5800X3D/9950X3D
 
Every 4 of 5 years. I went from an AM2 something to a 1156 i7 860 to a 1150 4770K to an AM4 (X470) 3700X and now 5800X3D. I don't neeeeeeed to upgrade but I definitely have the itch to.
