Following on from a recent thread, I was thinking how often do you actually write using a pen or pencil? Given that we all have phones, laptops or tablets and communicate electronically it is probably declining.

I for one use a pen or pencil to write notes at least 5 times a week. I work in IT but still find pen and paper the quickest way to take notes.

How about you?

Nothing has really replaced the notepad, I carry out surveys for installations and it's much easier using a pen and pad, I've even got a samsung ultra and the little pen thing only gets used by my daughter for doodling!

When I was office based all the time, hardly ever now, now its mostly app based for various reasons.

If working through a work related issue its often quicker to use pen and paper, sketch out what's happening, trace it out and work through the issue logically, then transfer to digital later or just bin.

Never use a pencil, I find a pen and paper quite handy if I need to sketch an idea out before I write the code but even that's only once in a blue moon.

Quite a lot actually.

I don't really "remember" typed notes. I've tried to use one note but in the end I always drop back to paper.

I often can't even and don't even read the notes back. But for some reason, the pattern of writing goes in my brain better.

Only whe handed a form and pen. It's difficult to write neatly after not holding a pen for a while, then they give the smallest area to write your email address. Good luck reading that.

next to never, unless there's a form when there's no electronical version that I can fill in and send back.. and if there is; why hasn't it been digitalised.

Notes for work to do... JIRA
Calandar event for meetings..
Notes for personal stuff.. Reminder, very useful with the location service...
Voice recordings on the smart watch..
Photos can be taken and attached to notes or calandar entries..

My biggest plan is that I can't have my work calander and personal calander side by side on the same device for my current employer.

The closest that I needed a pen and paper was when I needed to be let in to a building and the receptionist thinking that I was a member of the public kept pointing at the opening times.
I just opened up my laptop and typed a message on the screen then let her read the message. :)

I did think about journaling with a pen and book but I'm doing that now with the journal app.

Always take a pen with me on holiday as I tend to leave the tech behind...

Same, I find things easier to remember if I physically write them down rather than just tap a screen or keyboard.

I do use notes on my phone but usually for things either unimportant or that I need regular access to.
