in my old job, i worked for an electricity company, Eon bought us out, with the plan to keep all staff

11 months later, they give us goody bags and a mug, 1 month after that, we're all jobless

I didn't read the word 'record' then and thought blimey they must be a good place to work for if they reward you like that for completing 2 full weeks at work!

People on other projects get roughly £1.00 more an hour for sales, and we sit and do a helpdesk and get basic rate, and probably do far more than half the folk in there, Work directly with Soft eng sysadmin guys and stuff, fart about with scripting and Get cake and sweeties woooo

In general though sales departments make companies more money, makes sense no. Though most people on sales are knobs lol

Thank you, Id sooner be handed something worth while.

Are you suggsting that a lunchtime beer is more "worth while" than soft drinks and sweeties?

I wouldnt for a minute say i could do the jobs of the IT chaps, they work extremely hard and get a pittance of a pay,

Just its one extreme to the next.

The possition my group is in we doso much more with systems and testing than the people that are paid to do systems testing, who have he same qualifications as us and still get more money and more opertunitys.

They do that sort of thing in the call centres here but tend not to in the back office areas as we are far too cynical for that sort of thing. Marketing tend to mark new product launches with freebies of some description on everyone's desk.

A work place needs good morale, if you havnt got that, you havnt got a work place & team.

Them buying goodys for people is a way to keep the spirit high with the employees/teams IMO.

If you are just as good as they are, but you get paid less.. why not leave and find a job where you get paid more?

Ah, less of a joke and more of an aggressive response, I see.

Why not reply along the lines of:

"Yay, can we all wear part hats and sing songs as well " and then bring it up at a meeting rather than appear so disgruntled?

Im generaly trying to, but around here there is nothing, im at the stage where i would take just about anything to get out.

Im trying for RAF later on in the year need to get fit tho no point trying before then
