How Patronising is Your Work?

Sorry if this seams like a total waste of time, i need to know how much of a joke other peoples work places are and what kinds of stuff you get made to do.

I have just walked into work to be handed a "Goody Bag" (not a Jade Goody bag) But a bag containing a tin of pop a slice of cake a sweetie and a bag of crisps, This was handed to me by the director.

My question of can we all wear part hats and sing songs went down like a lead balloon.

This is only one of the many sad childish things they do, but the list is too long. how many people here feel they are working in a playgroup and feel like their bosses are extremely patronising

PS, sorry for grammar i have issues with it.

Sounds just like my old place of work - you dont work in a well known Fife call centre do you?

Im pretty sure that if you averaged the cost of that goody bag out over a year then you would have enjoyed about 10p extra per month payrise. Inflation is 0% so its unlikely that you will be getting a payrise this year. Would you have preferred it if you had got nothing?

Im generaly trying to, but around here there is nothing, im at the stage where i would take just about anything to get out.

Im trying for RAF later on in the year need to get fit tho no point trying before then

Hmm... maybe being over weight and unfit has something to do with your mood.

Sounds like an ok enviroment, my work place often has cakes and things.. I enjoy it, and so does everyone else!

To answer the OP, my place of work isn't patronising to me. Working with a more mature staff group means people are a lot more tollerant and respectful to each other.

I get cake, biscuits, sweets and all sorts brought in by staff and it's always a good thing. Although having said that there is a difference between "grab a cake from the kitchen when you make your morning tea" and "here is a party bag little boy, now run along to your seat and WORK HARD".

I also think Ciphon is bang on the money. If you aren't happy with your job, stop moaning and get the hell out of there. If you don't, you deserve to be there :)

More than likely lol. least i realise it and doing something about it

It really does sound like the sort of poor (lets build moral) idea they'd implement at my old place of work while ignoring the most obvious issues that really need to be addressed in order to improve the staff moral.

In the end I decided enough was enough, as has been stated earlier in the thread there's no point in moaning about your work and not doing anything about it. I'm now quite happy in my new place of employment, with better pay and better prospects :)

Well I work part time in retail and despite what 8 years of experience in the retail industry you still get constantly patronised about how to do things etc. Hate that since I have a lot more experience than a lot of the others where I work at the moment...love it really! haha!

You're right, it is awful and you shouldn't have to put up with it.

I'd suggest leaving, then you can spend all day drinking beer with your new 'colleagues' down at the job centre.

End of the day, you got something given to you by work which they didn't have to give you, stop being sucha grumpy old git and be grateful! :D

My work is fine though, work in a school in IT Support, so as per the rulebook, we always have cake, cookies, kettle, microwave and toaster next to the servers!

om nom nom! :D

when i first started in an old job, they used to arrange for "achievement" bonuses to be paid to the team each week, nothing major, but enough to keep us amused.... for example, few pizzas between the team on a late night shift pattern, yeah they did all the charity stuff, and various others, but the centre did start juicing it up when we got outsourced, full on rewards program etc, did take it a bit far with bottle openers, keyrings and stuff,

There is a whole big world out there, if Fife doesn't have the oppertunities for you then go somewhere that does or quit yo jibber jabber.

Wish my boss would bring me cake and coke!
