How times have changed . . . .

If he's getting showered with all the lastest tech then I would suggest buying something which he will use and not get put on one side (which is what will happen if you bought Lego).

Maybe some smart new trainers or clothes?

Bloody hell!

When I was 7 (in 1985), I probably got some Lego, Simon Says and perhaps a Transformer and I thought I was doing pretty well to get those.

Similar to me, more He-man/Transformer toys but they were more what I wanted than I got :(

I think OP should get something sporty or for school/brain development (non-electrical gadget)

Kids are getting spoilt nowadays. Before you know it, they'll be asking for a Maybach.

Get him Lego. Meccano if he's smart, else K'NEX or those magnetic sticks and balls that it's killing me that i can't remember the name of :p

Not Magnetic Stix & Balls by any chance is it? But remember Ozzy2727 that's only to be purchased if he's not smart enough for Meccano. ;)

I'd go along with Lego as still being quite appropriate for a seven year old and it's something that you can easily add to and encourages a bit of imagination.

When I was 7 I got a Nintendo Game Boy, they hadn't been released long! It's not quite the same as an iPhone/Pad but still a decent bit of kit at that age :)

Sounds spoilt. I'd donate some money on his behalf to Children in Need or something. Sure a little boy somewhere will be happy to get some Top Trump cards or a big marker pen.
