How times have changed . . . .

Sure a little boy somewhere will be happy to get some Top Trump cards or a big marker pen.

What will he do with a marker pen?

I wasn't given a mobile phone until I was 13. No way in hell my kids will be spoilt like that. They would be barely lucky to get a CD player!

You're pretty lucky, I bought my first mobile when I was about 20 yrs old, had a pager for about a year before that :o

give him a clip round the ear.......its the last thing he'll be expecting :D

:D This or you could knit him a ghastly jumper/woolly hat

I was happy with Bionic Lego's when I was 7 but I was given a Gameboy Colour without asking I didn't even know what it was! Pokemon Blue classic game :D Loved it.

What a spoiled child, the parents are going to have a major headache when he gets older.
As said get him some lego or one of those new toy guns that are popular at that age

7 years old and he's getting all that? We wouldn't get that if it my siblings christmas combined :S

I think when I was 7 I got some lego rock raiders, now that was awesome. Don't know why it was discontinued :(

I was in this very position with a ten yar old lad (mrs brother) last year, he wanted an iphone or an ipod touch surfice to say my reaction was the same as yours. At ten years old I bearly had a roof over my head let alone £150 worth or gadgets. Anyway the result was that the mrs pursuaded me and I crumbled and bought him the touch.

I still think it was the wrong thing to do as now every birthday and christmas the "want" list seems to be getting more and more expensive. For his birthday this year he wanted an ipad 2.

I think I got my first phone when I was ~12, mostly because I had started spending time on the weekends in town with friends without adults. It was mostly used just for ringing for lifts home when the shops shut etc.

I think my brother has a really old ipod touch he got given when my step dad got an upgrade. That's where most of his "expensive" stuff comes from. When one of us (I'm 19, our sister is 22) upgrades our stuff he gets the older things. Except he had a 360 arcade for Christmas last year as I took mine to university so he could no longer use mine.

I say get him some lego, it's what I always get my brother who turned 8 this year. I loved lego/bionicles when I was younger. Although this year I bought him a wand from harry potter land as he turned 8 when we were on holiday last month.

I remember growing up with these, me and my brother used to collect these as well as Lego. Massive tins and tubs of these collected over years. Going with my Gran on my birthday to that one shop in Shoreham that had everything in there. Miss how awesome being a kid was...:(

I'd say get him Lego or a basketball hoop and ball (Most likely every kid has a football)

At least they're getting him a Wii so he isn't sitting there all day. All we did at that age is play Football/Manhunt and then gather round ones house and play ISS when we were tired. **** getting him an Iphone at that age, he'll either lose it, break it or have it nicked at school.

Yeah similar to me. I got my first phone aged 22 in the year 2000, a Nokia 402. So even back then I was a bit late on the bandwagon and the phone was 'old', but it was £60 and was a start for me.
