How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

wouldn't it be nice to know the RAM temps and voltage regulator temps on these boards as you guys increase voltages? i wonder how healthy it is to increase the RAM at all from stock since they have no coolers on them, and the same with voltage since the voltage regulators on the card have no cooler either.

Why you sending it back?

When it arrived the card appeared to be used, manual and cd case was crumpled, looked like someone had cleaned the gpu with a cloth and left fibre and strings on the fan, traces of dust on the heatsinks, scratch marks on the PCIE contacts and the crossfire adaptor was missing. They did offer to send a replacement but I asked for a refund.

First post!!

Right, I'm very close to grabbing myself a 7850.

Would a 570 max OC edge out a 7850 max OC??

Gotta see some benches!

They're pretty much even at stock levels but the OC room on the 7850 is greater. When both overclocked the 7850 will win out over all, but would probably still lose in a couple of games.

The 7850 should last longer.

Hi, registered here so i can post in this thread.

Im having the same issue some people keep reporting.
Overclock range enhancement isnt working even if its activated (cant go over 1050/5800)
Tried everything said in the thread:
installing/reinstalling/rebooting after each install,closing-reopening,activating- deactivating, with and without CCC, driver sweeping in safe mode and whatnot.
Tried on 12.4 with 12.3 CAP or 12.3 everything...

Windows 7 ultimate 64
Sapphire 7850 normal edition

Why you installing CAP? Have you got a Crossfire setup?

i had a few issues almost similar with my OC version of your card. I un-installed gputweak 2.0.8.3 and installed the earlier 2.0.6.0

All settings stuck. Remember to click the 'Keep setting for next start' under settings->tuning

Well I think like 50-60s on the Ultra preset on multiplayer. I never seem to get stupidly crazy high FPS though, but it never drops. Not sure about the increase from stock though, I dunno how people get these crazy high FPS levels :(
Cheers mate. I think it'd be good if everyone posted some benchmark results running at 1200MHz and above as this seems to be easily achievable on any 7850, and it would really show what this card at it's full potential is capable of. I'd get the ball rolling, but I haven't ordered mine yet :D.

Dunno where you go that from mate, theres quite a few ppl here that are struggling to get to bench and game at 1150 @ nearly 1.2v core let alone 1200 core.

That'd be my mistake. I'd assumed anyone not reaching those clocks just hadn't managed to bypass the clock limit in AB etc. Even so, an OC of 270MHz should yield a reasonable bump in performance.

I'm just hoping to gauge how this card (once overclocked) compares against the rest of the market, because looking at stock clock benchmarks/reviews doesn't make it look too impressive .

on stock voltage i got mine to:

1090@5600@1075, 57c on load in unigine

i had it first at 1100 and got it to literally the last 10 frames of unigine and it failed before looping, so i bumped it down 10mhz and that seemed to be the sweet spot. 1100 was mentally a desirable number tho :D

i tried to play around with increasing the voltage...i got some more OC, a few unstable ones, and ultimately decided i didn't really want to mess with the voltage much for now. maybe in 2 years when the card is outdated and i'm ready to buy a new one anyway, but for now this is nearing 580 speeds on stock voltage, so i don't really see a need to go much further.

btw, no one worries about the voltage bus/connection temperatures on these boards?

Oh man :( mine was sweet as a nut 1200/5800 at 1.176v and had sailed through heaven and BF3 ultra @ 1900x1200 then...........

then I saw garriec had posted and I thought I know I will see if I can lower mines even more and after a couple of driver restarts whilst trying to bench Heaven I got 2 screens filled with funny grey lines. I later read its called the grey screen of death?.

I should've left well alone. Anyway I was using catalyst 12.3 with CCC and GPUTweak 2.0.6.0

I haven't used an ATI card since my 9800pro so I am hoping this is just a driver thing but I am getting worried I may have to return this card. D'OH

That Sounds worried me, so you always have grey Lines now in Desktop and 3D Mode?

Every People i whould Day that when you use Asus GPU Tweak you Must use the latest Version that is 2.0.8.3 and dont Install CCC so when you have CCC it Males Problems whith the powertune Features.

From my Crashs while testing with Heaven Benchmark whith 1920*max Settings in 80% the program Crashs to Desktop and in 20% i get a Black Screen freeze.

Thats a very very Good question, in GPU-Z i have no Information about RAM Vortages and temps so we all didnt know whats Happening whith 24/7. All i can say that in all Tests Nobody use any higher then 6000 so i think Thais the max Stable RAM clock.

Yeah i had it ticked, didnt change much, ill try 2.0.6 and report back

Dont know, everyone was saying they installed it and i thought it was needed.
