How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

My mate just got the MSI TF4 Power Edition.

Have to say guys, it's probably the worst 7850 I've installed.

The OC is pretty terrible. Standard volts are 1.21v so you'd think you'd easily get 1150/1375 at the very least. Nope, constant grey screen. Reboot, windows comes on and another grey screen. Have to power cycle to try again.

Standard clocks are ok.

Going back on Monday classed as faulty for a refund
 
Stock volts on these cards range from 1.050 1.210v. It doesn't seem to make much difference to max overclocks as most reach 1200MHz @ 1.225v with decent cooling anyway.

Yup, I'm thinking the same

My cheap non OC sapphire overclocks better than the TF4. Back monday, now do I tell him to pick the TF3 or HIS instead

I went from a VTX 7850 which was an average clocker, would do 1175/ 5300 @ 1.185v absolute tops, to an MSI 7950 twin frozr III oc and the difference is night and day. At similar clock speeds, the 7950 is fair bit faster than the 7850 and scores getting on for 20fps more than the 7850 in heaven. I did a run at 1200 core with the 7950 and got over 2000 score with 79.6 fps. I've also been playing crysis, crysis warhead and crysis 2 and for the first time I can crank everything up in game, run 4 x AA and I don't see frames any lower than 45 at any point as far as I can see. usually around 55fps as far as I can make out using fraps
Very impressed with this card and its quiet and cool:)

Hmm, would Overclocking my CPU effect my Graphics OC? It's just that my cards been fine for a few weeks, but out of no where it decided to grey screen in batman...

Just!

Black line artifacts on the dragon statue scene, and started jumping on scene 26 when it goes dark. Thought it would fail again, but managed to get through with a score of 1257

NOT IMPRESSED!

Now before I box it up ready to send back, I'm going to put it in my machine and crossfire with my 7850 sapphire.....just for a laugh :-)
