how well could ocuk forumites run this country?

It would be quite interesting to have a 'OCUK General Election event' - take a few members which would be up for it then in a weeks time vote on who you think would be the best 'Prime Minister' for the country.

I would assume the forum as a whole is 'middle ground', its just people who are more 'dedicated to the cause' who raise their voices.

It would be an interesting democracy to say the least.
Thats a good idea, each candidate could have a single thread to post and discuss their policies.

Great idea. I am Alreaady working out my manifesto.

On my Election campaign you will see me Teabagging the opposition & if you vote me in i will Teabagg the Queen when we meet :)

lol Malc. How's the manifesto coming along ?

We will need a ministry of magic, a ministry of funny walks plus all the usual political guff.

Alll seriousness, how some of the people who run our country act at Prime Ministers question time and in the house of commons it's no wonder this country is a mess. We should have it sorted by Monday, The middle east by a week on Friday and universal domination by the end of the year.

I would love to sort this country out..

first things would be.
A) sort out immigration, point system like america.
B) forced voting, also a leaflet to every house, with a few pages on each party. (each party could submit what they want to be printed)
C) tear up the human rights for criminals. Build more jails and strip them of any luxury's. Whilst beefing up the education and support services within jails.
D) Return power to teachers and police to deal with kids under 16.

Going on this post I really think that 'General Election' of OCUK would be a very entertaining idea.

Anyone else think its something that we could do over the course of a week, or a few days?

Would be a great insight into the forum, and would make for a very interesting outcome :)

Indeed - It would be amusing to see which personality the fine members of OCUK would put their faith into.

Obviously it would be up to the Dons to organise some sort of rules, and up to everyone else to ensure it would be done sensibly. If done well, it could be one of the most interesting and amusing things on OCUK for awhile.

I think you, Dolph and DirtyDog should go for it :D

Some one should make an official thread. Everyone who wishes to run submits a post, with there main manifesto points in it. Then a poll is started..

I would do it, but I think to be done best a Don should start the thread and lay down a fair set of rules. Not that I am lazy or that I want a don to have even more work than they already have, just that way it would be more respectable and achieve possibly a better responce and a more acurate portrayal of the forum.

Also, we would surely only want 3-5 members running. If every man and his dog was to enter, it would be chaos and wouldn't work.

Of course... this would be pointless is no one else thinks this is a good idea or is interested.

But what about personal attacks? Expressly forbidden by the FAQ but an intergral part of almost every election campaign. Surely you can't be suggesting people should stand or fall on the quality of their policies or at least their ability to appeal to masses? Why, that sounds suspiciously like democracy and that sort of thing is not to be welcomed. ;)

They couldn't, they'd be too busy arguing amongst each other to ever agree on anything. They'd ignore the NHS, schools, emergency services etc. and put all their energy into arguing about the pros and cons of immigration control.

 :p

Oh I love you

I'm sure we can get around that. By digging up every post with a spelling mistake, personal opinion that is against the flow and other such posts that can be used to discredit a candidate :D
