How would Arnolds physique fare in todays Olympia...

I agree about the injecting crap - it's a choice of life you make for yourself. Basically they become addicted to the body developing itself, and to the feeling you get when you're on the happy juice. You do have to have a bit of an addictive personality to keep at it.

Because it is choice and they are people who have found something they are made for.

The turtle shell belly is something that afflicts certain people. Ronnie is a huge example of it, there are plenty if pro bb'ers who don't have them yet are all geared up :p

If you look at the other end of the scale you have people trying to become as obese as possible and forums where they compliment eat other on how over weight they are with lesser members looking upto the heavily obese members.

You also have people starving themselves, again near to the point of death/suicide.

For what reason? that we'll never know. It's exactly the same as with bodybuilding. Unless you appreciate it and are 'in on it' I don't think you can ever understand. And by appreciate it I mean to actually appreciate it, not just see it from someones perspective but to have actually tried it yourself and realised how incredibly hard it is physically and mentally and the extreme dedication it requires.

I mean people like you I can understand, you're big but not retardedly so. Surely a hobby is something you do in your spare time, not every waking hour :p I just dont understand why you would want to live at the gym and injecting yourself with crap, but then I doubt I ever will.

...I don't understand why you'd want to run around a field kicking a stupid leather ball into a net, and train all week running around plastic cones.

Not really tbh... it's a way of life, maintaining such a physique is a way of life not just a week day thing or something like that. And tbh even though you have guys out there who are injecting "crap" into their body and spending every waking hour in the gym, they are the ones who are jacked and are knee deep in clunge. lol

because you can get paid up to £500,000 a week to do it? then add in sponsorship deals, advertising deals, signing on fee's, goal bonus's, win bonus's, trophy bonus's, etc. plus its fun too and healthy.

its one of the biggest industries in the world and probably the number 1 sport in the world.

£500k a week is highly rare, the average for pros is a lot lot less. Sponsorship deals are left to the few who pull in money from fans.

thats why i said "up to", Ronaldo is the only one on that amount, he is on a contract which increases his weekly wage by about £100K every year.

I think he was on about £200K a week last year, now hes on about £300K, next year will be about £400K and then it finally rises to over £500K.

if your playing for the top 2 teams in england, italy, spain or germany then you will be on about £100K a week.

obviously with the UK's tax, you would rather be making your £££ elsewhere.

Christ, get a grip, it's each to their own. I don't get football or the pansies running around playing it but it's a sport like bodybuilding! The fact that some can have a career and gain huge earnings doing what I would regard as a hobby is rather a wonderful thing.

No no no Shifty, you're wrong. You're not allowed to hate football in this country, it's like a religion here - don't you get it?! You've just offended all the under class!! Run for your life!!! :D :D :D

Ere, what's the point in three people bowling a big flat weight across some ice and polishing the ice in front of it? No money in that!

Why bother with laser target shooting? Has to be the most boring sport in the world, and the people who do it are probably gay!

But FOOTBALL? Well, top players get loads of money, so it must be good! Regardless of the fact the average person who plays football makes nothing from it. Plus, it's fun, unlike the above sports, and especially bodybuilding. Gay bodybuilding.

How can you say upto 500k when no one is there yet anyway?
Also no, not all players in the top 2 teams are on about 100k a week.
The average across all pro footballers in the uk is less than 50k a week I bet.

I wouldn't want to do it, I hate football, I despise it, personal opinion obviously...But going 'why would you want to look like that and do that???'...Its the same concept, I don't know why anyone would want to do that for a living, its basically a high paying acting carrier.

lol...number one sport...:D

Football (American soccer)

With over 3.5 billion fans worldwide, football ("soccer") is the most popular sport on the planet. It always ranks at the top of the majority of the credible lists published.

Usually, popularity is measured based on the "number of viewers/fans". According to a website called mostpopularsports.net, here are the top 3:
Football (which is equivalent to American soccer) is the most popular overall

Tennis is the most popular "individual" sport (no team required)

Golf is the most popular "solo" sport (can be played alone).

Additional opinions from WikiAnswers sports fans:

"Most popular" could mean "most watched," "most played," or "most revenue-generating." Based on the variable definition of "most popular" the following observations apply:
The most played sport, not just watched, in the world is also football (American Soccer).
Based on the number and size of stadiums around the world, the number of people who wear football (American Soccer) merchandise, the number of people who are aware of football, and the number of leagues/tournaments worldwide (The World Cup, UEFA Champions League, The South American Cup, The American Cup, The Asian Cup, 70 English league teams, 40 Italian league teams, 40 Spanish league teams) football ranks at the top of the list regardless of the definition of "most popular."
Rugby is very popular in many former English colonies (with the notable exception of the US) and has a large following. However, participation rates fall below that of football.

Manchester United is the most popular sports team and the biggest sport franchise on the planet. It has over 450 million fans all around the world. Its estimated value is $1.9 billion in value, which well exceeds that of the Dallas Cowboys and Real Madrid.

The average across all pro footballers in the uk is less than 50k a week I bet.

he is on a contract which will soon pay him over £500k a week, so im sure if Messi signs a new contract with Barcelona, he will also be paid similarly.

Yes players from the top 2 teams will be on about £100k a week, some above it and some below.

top 2 teams are:

England - Chelsea (since abromovich came in wages have sky rocketed at Chelsea, i would say all of their first team are paid around £100k a week and their top players well over) and Man Utd (spend within their means, but im sure all of their top players will be on about £100k a week).

Man City have probably overtaken everyone else in the wages stakes, toure gets £225K a week and is britains highest paid footballer.

Spain - Real Madrid and Barcelona (both teams players will be on £100K a week easily, superstars at both teams will be near double this)

then add in bonus's, goal bonus, win bonus, clean sheet bonus, etc.

then add in advertising deals, nike, adidas, puma, coke, pepsi, etc. these companies have used the top footballers from their respective countries in order to promote their brand. video games also use players ont he front of their games. players also get royalties from their names being used in video games too, or their clubs do, whoever owns their image rights.

thats why i said earn up to, meaning thats the maximum just now. I'm sure if Ronaldo had marketed himself like Beckham did many years ago, he could be easily earning £1m per week, with Calvin Klein boxer's deal, Hugo Boss aftershave deal, deal with some top car manufacturer, deal with nike, deal with coke, etc, etc, then his wages plus bonus's on top.

obviously im talking about the top players from the top teams in each league, im not talking about stoke city whose players obviously get a lot less.

but even in Scottish Football (a country with 5 million population) players can get paid up to £60k a week (Robbie Keane at Celtic last year).

im just saying that some guys can make a hell of a lot of money by doing it. im sure that every EPL player (bar one who plays for roughly free because he is either royalty in his home country or his family are billionaires and plays because its fun and a hobby to him) gets paid more than anybody in this thread, even if they are only on a miserable £5k a week.
