My monitor choices are now between the 24" Hazro and the new HP LP2475w.

So I'm hunting the web for first hand experience on this new HP.

So far this thread has a lot of good info: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1326971&page=9

This german forum (translated to english) has a mini review with some pics, post 6: http://translate.google.com/transla...php?t=513349&page=7&hl=da&ie=UTF8&sl=de&tl=en

Here's how I tested input lag. I connected my PC to the LP2475w and my old Iiyama 19" CRT in clone mode and ran the input lag test from lagom.
I took a series of 20 shots in burst mode with my digital camera with 1/320 shutter speed. Both tests have the LP2475w over DVI and the Iiyama 19" over VGA. Graphicscard is an Asus NVidia 7800GT. From previous input lag tests I know that results are consistent when I switch ports on the graphiccard.

I ran two test with the same parameters.

Test 1: The HP is on average 18,7 ms behind the Iiyama CRT.
Difference in ms per photo taken:
15, 16, 0, 16, 31, 15, 0, 31, 31, 16, 32, 31, 16, 16, 15, 31, 16, 15, 16, 15

Test 2: The HP is on average 21,5 ms behind the Iiyama CRT.
Difference in ms per photo taken:
0, 16, 32, 32, 31, 15, 31, 16, 16, 15, 47, 15, 16, 31, 16, 16

The Monitor does not have a A-TW (advanced true white) polarizer. So a white glow when viewed from an angle is to be expected.
The Hazro's doesn't either.

The monitor is WIDE GAMUT

Paneltype: LPL LM240WU4; a LG. Philips S-IPS panel model that went into production in 2008

For me it's like 30£ cheaper than the Hazro 24" (I live in Denmark).

The reason I went looking for alternatives to the Hazro are the many faults reported.

Like flickering green lines, green dots, build quality issues and developing dead pixels

That white 'frosting' effect across the screen when viewed from an angle is pretty terrible. The picture quality on these IPS screens does look good, but the viewing angle issue seems to be just as bad as TN panels (though admittedly it seems to be mostly in dark scenes on the IPS panels).

It's nowhere close to TN viewing angles and yes the issue is most predominant in dark scenes

Questions for Baddass:

I would like an assessment of just how bad you would consider the saturation of the monitor. For those of us without calibration equipment. I will of course be using RGB + brightness + contrast settings to calibrate best possible ;)

So you recieved it :D

Looking forward to :
an assessment of just how bad you would consider the saturation of the monitor. For those of us without calibration equipment. I will of course be using RGB + brightness + contrast settings to calibrate best possible

Initial results are no dead pixels, backlight is pretty uniform, brightness after factory reset is not as bright as the Hazro HZ24Wi also after a reset.

Stock colours are more vibrant than the Hazro (to be expected) and luminance at stock brightness of 90 is more comfortable as well.

Setup and Calibration about to start as soon as I box up the Hazro :)

Looking forward to your amazing pictures ;)

damn you guys i hate you, i gotta order it from germany and it will take days!!!!

At least you finally found a killer monitor you can have delivered to Slovenia ;)

The conundrum now is to buy at OcUK or in Denmark(50£ more but the possibility for a refund)

Damn mrk I thought I finally foound the screen for me.
I greatly value your opinion.

I don't understand how colors can look both oversaturated and washed out

I would be using the screen in non colormanaged appz, like Ie7 + winxp

I don't mind if colors look oversaturated that's just cool, but I hate washed out.

Any posibility for a picture of Hazro vs. HP showing OcUK forum in Ie7 ?

If you already sent the Hazro back. Then just a picture of OcUK forum in Ie7 vs. Firefox ?

I don't understand why Baddass didn't catch this ?

In your pictures, mrk I actually find the HP much more appealing

Thanx so much for reply mrk After looking more careful on your pictures I now clearly see the unnatural skintone on the baby :(

If the screen just constantly oversaturated colors I guess I could correct it. But I guess that's not the case :(

Damn now I have absolutely no idea what screen to get. I don't like the way the Hazro handles brightness control (the way going for 120 cd/m2 kills the contrast)

I guess I will wait for another screen using the HP H-ips panel

Or maybe just spend 20£(the shipping price back and forth) to experience the HP live

i didnt want to get into the whole wide gamut vs standard gamut debate in the review, as it's not really the place. people are hopefully aware of the pros and cons of wide gamut displays....i personally dont find the forum colours washed out on the HP though, but it;'s down to taste i guess

Sorry didn't want to come off as critiquing your fine work. But wide gamut vs standard gamut assesment was all I was looking for in your review. As it was mentioned as the single biggest potential problem with this monitor ;)

Baddass: You say you didn't find the forum washed out ?
Did you experince washed out colors on anything else ?

I was kind of hoping to compensate the oversaturation with the grafic card settings:

** in fact you should see exactly what I mean if you open IE and load the forum then in Firefox enable colour managed mode and open the forum, look at the 2 windows side by side.

Yeah would be great if someone could do a picture of that ?

I used to do, what you guys are accusing mrk of ;) I have either returned or sold all LCD I have ever owned. Now I'm taking a break and just obsessing in forums :D It was costing me too much financially + personally

I greatly value mrk's opninion. He pays attention to detail :)
