HP Reverb G2 uk release date?

I'm about 95% certain I'll be getting the 6800XT rather than the 3080... which feels odd to say because it'll be my first AMD GPU in around 17 years I believe!

Will be a great VR card in my opinion... You can point to a few things Nvidia may have for VR such as DLSS 2.1 (no VR games currently using it) SPS (a small handful of games using it) etc, but I'm not a believer in proprietary tech because it almost never sees widespread adoption. DX12U/Vulcan bring a lot of the performance optimising stuff anyway which is fully supported by both AMD and Nvidia. Sampler feedback for example does what SPS does and more, while DirectML super resolution is coming and will (try to!) compete with DLSS but as a more open standard and also on the XBOX series X/S, thus likely to see significantly wider adoption. We have to wait and see if it will work in VR though as DLSS 1.0-2.0 didn't. Raytracing isn't going to be fast enough on either card for VR framerates so doesn't feature in, even though we don't actually know how they stack up yet (though I suspect AMD to be weaker otherwise they would have shouted about it).

For now I think raw horsepower is still king over optimisations with spotty few and far between implementations, as raw power works to give you a better experience in all games rather than a select few. While we need to wait for reviews I suspect a 6800XT paired with a 5000 series CPU to enable smart access memory and overclocked is going to run rings around the 3080 which appears to have very little headroom left. Looking at AIB models they are rumoured to be hitting 10% higher clocks than reference and if you believe AMD's slides they were already neck and neck with the 3080 stock with no SAM, no rage mode and no overclock. The 16gb of ram is also a factor in my decision given the more-than 4k resolution of the G2, I think 10GB may just start to cut things a little fine in some situations.

Time will tell though!
Great info thanks, makes me want to go for the 6800XT.
Looking to get a G2 in the new year too.

I have only encountered one SPS implementation in the wild, (iRacing) and it created a double-vision effect for stuff in the distance. (ie clouds in the sky) I don't know if the issue was on iRacing or Nvidia, but I had to turn it off.

Yeah I know some people seem to not get on with it... I don’t know if it’s a headset/runtime specific issue, a GPU/driver specific issue, game specific issue or individual issue.

Generally most criticism seems to level around a lack of 3D depth effect too but that also seems to vary between individuals.

Hopefully the sampler feedback implementation is better... I’d put my money on it being a performance option for MSFS2020 when they roll out DX12U support.

I'm still holding out to see real reviews, I have the index but havobeen overly impressed with the headset

I don`t normally pre-order, so I do feel a bit like a guinea pig, testing their new product. But I did do a LOT of extensive research, looking over all the VR options. I was originally going to go for the Index, but finally plumbed for the G2. I`m confident I made the correct decision. However, i`m sure the software will need a few revisions before it`s working perfectly, always happens with this kind of thing...

It's a refined reverb which was quite good in itself so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Having had a reverb, all the niggles I had with it have been improved on paper. Clearer image, lighter cable, better sound, improved tracking and controllers.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay. We are still awaiting official UK shipment from HP. The post from HP Reddit was although helpful to say they are shipping, it doesnt take into account the amount of territories they will be shipping to. We have chased almost twice daily with HP UK and the GBU team for a firm ship date and then we can work out a delivery date to the UK and from there an actual firm delivery date for every Reverb customer. I can only apologise for not being able to communicate this, but unfortunaltey we are beholden to logistics/comms from HP and factory. I can assure you, as soon as we have a date for the UK we will send a message and subsequent follow ups with firmer dates. I would still say 2nd week of November is still a rough guide.

Don't really see any issue here just yet. Still seems that 2nd week in Nov is probably a go. Will definitely be here before I get a new graphics card to drive it, that's for sure.
