Just so everyone knows I phones mobiles.co.uk and spoke to helpful agent that confirmed they have stock of both the pre 3 and touchpad and any orders being made today, pending approval should be with you tomorrow

very tempted but would have to add the £5/month for data(is this 500mb or 250mb?) , after £30 quidco will be £90 or so over the 2yrs than I'm currently paying for the o2 simplicity for smart phones @£15.30/month(incs unlim data, I got it feb last yr before they cut it down to 500mb and have not changed my contract so still get unlim data).

missed out on the tp couple weeks back so this deal would cost me about the same(once the quidco comes) if I bought the tp back then(but added bonous of the pre3), but loosing the unlim data is putting me off. looking at my usage since getting simplicity most months have been under 400mb but have had 3 months where I've gone over 500mb, 1 month just over(526mb) and 2 months over 600mb(1 being just under 700mb, think I experimented with video streaming with iplayer(beebplayer or whatever the unofficial app is called)/youtube).

with voda can you tether to a tablet?

have just spent £1500 on pc upgrade(still need ram), no job so not sure I can afford it, extra £5 to what I'm currently paying if I want data.

This is so tempting but I don't want to be tied down to a sim I'm never ever going to use for 2 years. :(

Edit* Is there anything stopping me from selling the pre 3 as soon as I got it?

From what I can gather I can't see any issue with selling the Pre 3. Currently on ebay some are selling for £350. The entire contract for the phone, sim and touchpad is £372, so thinking about it you can grab yourself a free sim here with minutes and texts and a free touchpad

Hmm, that does make it VERY tempting.

One thing I'm a little worried about. I would never ever use this sim. It would probably never even go into a phone. Would this cause problems?
I had a mate with o2 who got sick of his contract, he continued to pay but he didn't use the sim at all. They tried to sue him for not using it, some breach of contract. I'm pretty sure it didn't go anywhere but I don't need the hassle.

Also whilst it may not suit everyone, I just realised Vodafone passport is with that sim meaning you can call from over 35 countries with your inclusive minutes and there's only a 75p connection charge. For those who travel that's a pretty decent deal id say

Ardmanz I have NEVER heard of that. I work for Orange retail and whilst I cannot speak on behalf of O2 that does sound ridiculous if true. From what I know from my job you are free to do whatever you wish with your sim card as long as you keep paying your bill. Double check with him but I have worked for Orange for 3 years and never heard anything of the sort even from the other providers.

Really? Sounds like one of those "cool" stories.

Any company would love to keep taking your money, especially if you are not using their services.

Just to provide some personal experience, years ago I did an 18month contract with 3 just for the phone. I didn't use the sim and on the 17th month I phone them up to give 30days notice to quit and that was the end of that 30 days later.

Well, I figured £15.50/month for 2yrs with 100 mins, 500 text, 250MB was a good deal fo a Pre 3 and Touchpad.....Desire T-Mobile contract due to end in about 3 months, and £140 on offer from phone recycle places :p

Third parties - CPW, Mobiles, Phones4u etc - usually ship all their handsets unlocked because they just buy handsets and SIMs and the two never meet until order.

Well my rep is back and my order of 6 touchpads will not be coming :(

He said that stock had not been allocated due to the security checks and in the frenzy all the stock got sold so my order is now concelled.

He's going to find out if they will be getting any more though.

On the plus side, I got my laptop for £138 :D

Yes, I looked a little closer on their website and it does state that it is unlocked.

So there are no legal reasons why I can't sell the unopened pre 3 and voda will not block the phone when/if they figure out I'm not actually the person using it?
