HTC "DLX" - 5" 1080p screen, 1.5GHz Quadcore Krait, Adreno320 GPU

But I have a funny feeling that the battery life is going to suck VERY badly, unless HTC have worked wonders with the screen efficiency and software/drivers optimisation with the hardware.....

It's HTC. I highly doubt they have.

If they complain about poor sales after launch then someone needs to send them a large '2020mAh & no sd slot. Seriously!?' poster.

What were they thinking? Didn't they learn anything after the One X?

Sense v4 and higher is very well optimised for battery life as well as performance and supposedly jb has improved the battery life on the x by a good bit (the performance has shot up, surpassing the GS 3 and note II (which are also on jb) in quite a few benchmarks). The screen is also very power efficient on the X/xl (the one xl has the best battery life there is aside from the likes of the note 2, RAZR HD and Maxx etc.) So they could very well have improved the power efficiency on slcd 3 even more and CPU/GPU is very power efficient too.

It is largely the tegra 3 chip set and very poor optimisation with tegra 3 that drags the x battery life down compared to the xl etc.

They did learn from the x, hence the one x+....... :p

It is beyond stupid not releasing it with at least 32gb internal storage though, unfortunately that seems to be their strategy these days, release an overall epic phone but with 1-2 crippling issues and then 4-6 months later release an updated version were they improve those areas I.e. the sensation and its brothers, the one x and x+, one s and the one se etc. Little do they know that is one of the main reasons why their profits are actually decreasing....

Soon the standard storage for basic phones has to raise right? Say it's gonna be so please...

I mean storage prices for SSD hard drives has been steadily dropping for quite a while, so why aren't we seeing that reflected in phone storage sizes?

A year ago I would have guessed that today 32GB would be the minimum standard storage for phones like the iphone nexus and htc/samsung flagship devices. To still see 8GB options on phones like the Nexus makes me sad. :(

Even worse when you think you'll only be able to use just over 5gb of that 8gb.

Google wants us to use their cloud, so it probably won't if they have anything to do with it.

This.

As well as apple.

Plus with fast mobile data connection and unlimited data plans as well as the majority of people being happy with 16GB, the chances of 32GB+ becoming the norm is very low IMO

I'm not going 16 again. They really should give people the the choice. It will be years until I can stream music where I live uninterrupted, even then I want storage

Maybe the Motorola Razr maxx hd will be the last good phone with sd card? I should stock up

Really hope we hear more about an international version soon. If a December release was announced I'd probably wait and get this instead of a Nexus 4. The on screen buttons and big empty bezel really annoy me about the Nexus 4, with this phone it looks like every little bit of space it being utilised! If you compare them the Nexus 4 is actually 1g heavier and not much more smaller

The photos look slightly better (I think, need to see more photos and full size shots!) on the DNA especially the 1080P video recording compared to the X, actually smooth playback

http://blog.gsmarena.com/we-take-th...-spin-come-back-with-still-and-video-samples/

Wonder if this is due to a newer version of sense V4+/JB as both the X and S have the same camera lens etc. yet the 1080P video recording isn't as smooth as the DNA or could it just be the better hardware (CPU/GPU) helping out (as 1080P video recording looks better on the S than the X and X+)

Supposedly jellybean has improved the photo quality, white balance etc. on the X+ but the 1080P video recording still looks terrible in terms of smoothness.

I have to say this a very nice looking phone, i just hope any rerelease has a larger battery!

Can anyone tell me how HTC is nowadays for rooting and flashing custom ROMs? As simple and pain free as Samsung?

HTC have the worst naming policies in existence, they seem to really hate the idea of building up premium branded devices...

I really like the names they use, imo much better than all the other companies phone names apart from some of LG's (optimus range because it reminds me of optimus prime from the transformers :p :o), especially the "desire" and "one" names, however, their latest releases for different versions of the one X, S etc. are stupid i.e. one S, one S C2, one SC, One SU, one ST, one SV :o :o :o

EDIT: My goodness just looking at gsmarena and the amount of phones they have released now is so ****ing stupid, they really don't have a clue. What is the point of bothering with so many pointless phones  They even admitted before the one series launched that they knew having all different versions of one phone was stupid and causing confusion/problems with its customers yet they have only done the exact thing but a 100 times worse.....

This phone is looking very tempting! Although maybe a bit too tall for my liking but if battery life does turn out to be good by some miracle.......I might just make the jump to it, even though I said I would never get another HTC device again after the poor support/lack of updates for the one S, X etc. :o :p

The names themselves are good, but they never stick to them long enough to build a brand, Samsung have built a really strong brand in the Galaxy S series but HTC really don't have an equivalent.

I really enjoy the HTC aesthetics in their devices, they build very attractive designs much better looking then Samsung.

True!

They do need to get themselves sorted out with a proper brand name.

Edited this in the above post:
