**HTC HD2 Thread**

Right, after trying many versions of Android, and struggling to find one that was fully stable with no issues, I have taken the plunge and I am now running, wait for it...

WINDOWS PHONE 7 on my HD2!!!

Everything working, including live services.

DarkForcesTeam have released a working ROM and after a few tweaks (Dev Unlock, XAP installer, TouchXPlorer and a reg edit), it seems fully functional!

AWESOME! Google DFT WP7 ROM (the DFT site is in Chinese but if you use Google Chrome, it'll autotranslate for you)

It's not fully functional though is it? The marketplace doesn't work, along with any other "cloud" services?

It is! I've been using the marketplace loads this evening with no issues.

I was going to try this tonight but I'm holding off. To get live services running properly you need an activation code from MS, which from what I gather means lying to them on the phone to obtain it. No doubt they have had thousands of people over the last 24 hours ringing them up for this and there has already been a warning of potential banning of your live ID.

Whilst this hasn't come from MS themselves I fear there may be some fallout once they realise what is happening. I may be being over cautious/paranoid but I don't want to take that risk as I wouldn't want it to affect my Xbox Live account in any way.

Still, it seems to me that it might be better for Microsoft to let it slide as it might mean more potential sales on their Marketplace etc, but then again.............

All they asked me for when I called was my Live ID. They didn't even ask what handset I had or any contact details.

However, yeah, I think with the number of people that they had phoning yesterday, they have now cottoned on and increased the security so it's a bit more of a risk trying to obtain one now.

Well ive been using it for a day now - cant really comment on battery life as I have been messing with it quite a bit so not your typical usage. I really like Windows phone 7 - it looks fantastic, very slick and fast. Syncing with Zune is great and combine it with a Zune pass and its fantastic.

If you guys have any questions then please ask.

Regarding calling Microsoft for a activation code, all they took from me was my name and email address (doesnt have to be your live id - i used a spare account. ) The email was only to send the code to me as its quite long.

Live services are now up and running.

Very happy!"

How is everyone finding the battery life on wm7? Mine seems awfull - cant get close to a days charge with light usage. I am syncing with the corporate account so push email will drain a lot of that.

Can't be bothered with the hassle and risk of buyer kicking up false fuss, it really isn't worth being a seller on their any more, and the only forum that allowed mobile sales has stopped sadly. :(

Likewise. I'm about to put mine in for the chop, can't complain @ £159.

Will go a long way towards a new blackberry on pay n go.

What's that you say? No forums at all now who will let you sell or trade phones???? I was just about to try and go from iPhone 4 to Android or a Windows 7 phone. Looks like I'm stuck with it now.

Really wanted another HTD device.

Does anyone know of a Windows 6.5 app allowing the HD2 to control Windows Media Center over WiFi?

I know of a few for Android but as I mainly use Windows, don't really want to have to boot into Android every time I want to control the media center.

As above. It's is a wicked piece of hardware. The only reason I'm getting rid is because I want something I can type on faster, something with better battery life, something which has better email connectivity (mine often lags) and something which is all hardware operated. I find it annoying working my way round the HD2 when I want to do something really quickly, I can get my old nokia shed out and text / make a call at least twice as quick as the HD2. I'm happy to sacrifice the qualities of the HD2 to get the above from a blackberry.
