**HTC HD2 Thread**

Just taken out a contract with Vodafone as they had the best tariffs.

Take it that it's via an independent due to Vodafone themselves kissing goodbye to the HD2!

As with most memory cards, the better the class, the costlier the card. I'm not sure it makes a huge difference but then I'm impatient so went for a 8gb class 6 for just over £20.

I know, it is a shame :(

Was tempted by the 8gb but not sure as i'd probably put a lot of media on it.

What is it like handling things from iTunes?
Was very tempted by the iPhone solely for the use of iTunes.
I understand asking for iTUnes software on a WM device is a long shot but is there any software out that will easily transfer media from iTunes straight to the phone?

So if i bought songs or videos from iTunes, is there any way to transfer the songs to the phone? I am aware of the differing file formats and DRMs but i herd that Apple dropped this for the new songs on iTunes?

Any tips?

Nearly LOST mines last night, drunken it slipped out my hand in a BUSY night club :(

Took me around 5 mins to find it on the floor, including walking away to try and find a mate to call it lol! Anyways long story short it got trampled to hell in the process....the only damage it got however was 3 tiny wee scratches on the front....sure they annoy me but thats how good the screen is it can take some decent abuse :D

Happy new year guys :D

Stick a cover on it and it should be even harder for the scratches to be seen! However, you will always see them... bit like dead pixels. You can see them from 50ft away. It's all neuropsychological.

Dropped mine twice on hard surfaces now, the second time I had it out of its case and it hit the ground with such force that the battery cover flew off - not a scratch on it and everything works fine, good solid build on these! :)

Had a play with one of these in Phones 4 U today (god I hate phones for you, walk in the door and they pounce on you). Its not as big as I though it would be, but its still a good cm wider and nearly 2cm longer than my N95, and that already feels like a bulk in my pocket.

Just wondering how you guys carry your HD2 around? I dont think Id be able to keep it in my pocket as a) it wouldnt fit comortably, and b) my N73 screen got scuffed in the middle where it was under presure in my pocket.

I keep mine in my back pocket or side pocket of my trousers, I soon forget about :)
The screen is fairly tough - check back a few pages and there is a video which shows the screen being scratched by various objects.

Mine should be here on Tuesday *fingers crossed*

Any essential accessories and software i should consider ordering for it such as a case for it?

Cheers :)

I went from an N95 and though jeez its massive compared to it, but you get used to it. And it fits in my pockets no problem, i'm looking at some sort of silicone/gel case for it, but not found anything yet.

Does it not feel like the phone is going to be 'bent' in your pocket, or get in the way? TBH my N95 annoys me in my pocket some times. And a case is only going to make it bigger?

I spose I could stop keeping it in my pocket all the time...

Get yourself over to the "leo" forum on xda developers. Get familiar with the various hacks they've got available.

Following from JanesyB's comment in another thread, to the users of the HD2, how often do you find yourself 'falling out of the HTC frontend and into Windows Mobile itself' and being left in a stylus orientated OS with just your finger to jab about with?

(btw, thanks JaneseyB, you have just blown apart my 99% decided mind and Im back to square 1 again!:rolleyes:)

usually only when changing an advanced setting for me, even then its not too hard to be accurate. ive had a viewty in the past and i found that much nicer to type fast on, that would be my only gripe. i suppose ive not had much practise as im currently unable to get a signal from vodafone

I've just bought a car mount and gel cover/screen protector so I'll let people know how good they are when they arrive.

Also got a Jawbone handsfree kit for Christmas and it's awesome. The Bluetooth settings area of the HD2 is also really good, I just need another piece of software that reads callers names when it's ringing or something now.

I can honestly say I VERY rarely see the actual "OS screens". HTC have done a pretty spiffy job IMO.

Likewise, yes you may have to plough through them initially to set a few things up and make some tweaks/changes, but in day to day use it's pretty much all done within the 'sense' ui :)

As to your earlier question Skeeter, I personally don't have any trouble carrying it around in my pocket at all and I also upgraded from an n95, yes it is larger but also slimmer which helps balance it out a bit - the nokia was a bit of a brick ;)

Yeah, the N95 is easily twice the thickness of the HD2.

Im still stuck though. The HD2 does benifit from the Sence UI ontop of WM, but Android is designed out and out for finger jabbing. The Milestone looked spot on but the Keyboard will likely be to small, and is therefore pointless. The Nexus One looks ideal, but when that arrives over here nobody knows!

And then theres the open-ness. I assume WM is far more simple for people to write things for than Android, and the Android market place is going to be like the iPhone one (10 gazillion apps, of which 9.99999 gazillion are duplicates or just rubbish). Plus syncing Android with Outlook Contacts and Calendar appears.... complex. I currently use my phone for calling, texting, bit of email and MSN, and TomTom. Adding in an unlimited data tarrif the HD2 still looks like it does what I need better.

But then again, I am open to being swayed.
