**HTC HD2 Thread**

Ive just put this on:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740963
[BUILD][10.08.2010][shubCRAFT CM6/Froyo/Themed V1.2b][Kernel: ElBartoME 2.6.32.9#7]

It so good! only 2 questions though;

1. How do I import contacts from the PIM backup I made?
2. The phone doesnt seem to charge when booted in to andriod.

edit - Contacts export / import and a lot of other things - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7088391&postcount=3

Restoring contacts is easy, Just change the file extension of the pim file to a rar file, sync your googlemail account to it. simple.
Only issue really is the exchange support. it syncs the inbox fine but not the rest of the folder structure. I have have 22 folders under the indox all with rules. :(

I need to buy an HD2 for my Dad as a retirement gift (well, I need a windows mobile device so that he can run this particular mapping software he likes, and AFAIK, the HD2 is the best WM phone around?).

Anyway, the cheapest contract I've found so far is £25/month with free phone (T-mob or orange). Virgin have a £20/month contract, but they're sold out of the handset.

If anyone knows of any cheaper deals, I'd love to hear about it! Large amount of minutes and texts is not important (200 of each would be plenty), but unlimited data would be a big bonus.

Cheers :)

Nice ill give it ago, found the version i use when in a phone call the hard button does not work so i cant hang up using that and it takes awhile to bring the screen back on after the prox sensor turns the screen off. So if it goes to answer phone when i ring someone i usually leave a blank message lol...not good

Very tempted to pick up one of these second hand as I need something for mobile email and to generally organise myself. :p

How much should I expect to pay for one of these second hand?

And is it likely to work OK on the 3 network if it was unlocked?

Going to give android a go this weekend - I am actually very happy with Winmo at the moment (running the latest GTX Energy ROM with a bunch of tweaks) but would still like to try out some of the android apps :)

You use your phone for calls? What nonsense is this! :)
Other than updating the kernel as it suggests on xda-dev then I don't know.

LOL. Only tried using it for a call about three days after having it installed. Thanks. I'll keep trying.

Android is top notch and the HD2 is a great handset so the two together are a good match!

Well after giving it a go and running Android for a few days I definately agree! It runs surprisingly well considering it is off the sd card, yes there are still some minor niggles and battery issues but on the whole I am very impressed.

I will still be using Winmo for work and multimedia (yet to find a media player as versatile as Coreplayer or a reader as good as Allreader) but can see myself using Android for everything else - the number of apps alone addresses one of my biggest issues with Winmo. Being able to run them both so easily is great and I feel like we are getting the best of both worlds here :D

Not sure about Coreplayer, but I believe the most open media player on Android at the moment is Rockplayer, give it a whirl :)
