**HTC HD2 Thread**

I think I'm using a slightly different mdeejay version (well I was until I broke the phone) but that one should be fine.

It will all work yes. If you want to flash the custom windows rom you will lose your files and I would not reccomend it if you still want to use windows. I have been using Android as my daily for a couple of months now and never want to go back.

I am using a slightly older version of that windows rom.

Oh god that's not what I want to hear. I asked them if they would be out of stock as I remembered your post, the guy in the shop said don't worry they keep large reserves for replacements.

I deffinately do not want a wildfire and also don't really want a galaxy S. The reason I bought the HD2 was due to the screensize.

If they can't offer me anything very similar is there any chance I would be able to cancel my contract? I would love the desire HD.

The galaxy S does have a 4" screen with the same res but it does feel a little plastic compared to the solid feel of the HD2.

But as they don't have it on their website I can't see them having stock either.

Yeah I had a quick play with a mates one and I didn't think it was great.

As I said earlier is there any chance I could cancel the contract if the can't offer me the same phone? I hate doing it but I really will kick up a fuss if the wildfire is the best the can offer.

No prob just give us a shout if you need any more help. Im hardly the expert but I have been fiddling with it since the very first builds.

well, tried the android, reboots, comes up with htc screen then doesnt do anything else - did I do something wrong, should I have copied to the root of the sd card?

Well, it does start after a while and after I copied it to the root - should have seen a bit earlier - but it just keeps re-booting

any ideas?

ninja edit - figured it out!! sim pin needs to be off!

Update - running very well, like a new phone and really liking Android 2.2

The phone is responsive and I havent found anything not working - some progs from the marketplace wont install but I have heard thats par for the course.

I cant, however, sync it to my computer - no idea why - tried downloading a HTC sync prog but it doesnt seem to work with windows 7 - anyone know a way around this,

Oh and also a good video player foor android akin to coreplayer?

I set up a googlemail account and use companion link to sync OTA. It also means that my other Android phone & my 3G Ipad get refreshed at the same time :)

Try Rockplayer, does the job only downside is the watermark in the corner on the free version (does not bother me)

With the progs that won't install, try mounting your sdcard using AutoMount then installing, should work then.

Same as mrgubby, I just sync everything with my google account (contacts, calendar etc)

Is it still via the SD card that is the only way to run Android or have they now been able to create ROMs? Never got around to doing it the last time I enquired and really do fancy giving the phone a new lease of life.

Thanks for the advice - ended up using an sd card with all my normal windows stuff on it - what does automount do - will it erase all my data?

loving the android - what a great market place.

... So how do I actually put Android on my HTC HD Mini? I wanna give it a whirl :)

Sorry, Android is not available for the HD mini afaik.

BA - yes it still runs from SD card (though a lot of the earlier bugs have now been ironed out), and yes I would update your HSPL and radio first. Just read the stickies on XDA, plenty of info and guides there to get you going.

TBird, no automount will not erase your data - you just use it to 'mount' or 'unmount' the sd card when running Android so that you can interact with it properly i.e install or copy stuff to it.

So many versions of Android for the HD2. Can anyone recommend me one please?

TC.

I used the one here

Everything seemed to work straight off - dont know what HSPL3 is so dont think so!!

Used a standard stock rom, updated as far as I could officially

That android build is no longer supported or being updated, MDJ has stopped working on it. If you want Sense and like the revolution theme then I am currently using this :

Any particular reason why you are still on a stock rom TBird? Custom roms really are the way forward - even if you are not bothered about customising the phone, having more features and making it look much nicer they just make it so much smoother and easier to use compared to the stock rom.
