**HTC HD2 Thread**

Been waiting for this phone for ages, Vodafone should have it up for order today to :)

Quick question for those of you who have used Windows Mobile phones before.

Can you change the network mode like you can on other phones?
E.g set it to use GSM only, dual mode or UTMS?

Cheers.

Yup. There is an option somewhere to make it use GSM only.

Is watching videos any good on this phone with its 65k colour screen?

I had 3 satios before vodafone cancelled my contract because they all kept freezing. I don't like the iPhone cos of its low rez screen. Even tho i do like its touch screen and interface (but thats all i do like of it).

Watching videos on my X1 and Touch Pro2 are great, don't be put off by the colour aspect.

This is now out on Vodafone website.
Free on £35pm 24mth, or £40pm 18mth.

However I just rang them about an upgrade as I just wanted to see what kind of deal they could do but the woman said its not in stock/not available yet. I said thanks and hung up. 2 mins later someone else rang back about upgrades. He said the same and just offered to take my details to call back when available.

I'm still not convinced about this. Hardware, looks, screen all amazing. Just WM 6.5 and it's slow development and poor application choice put me off. I know Sense IU is lovely but while Android has 12,000+ apps and has newer versions almost every couple of months WM is due WM7 in about a year (Q4 2010) and there are only 149 apps in the marketplace

That's because WM users don't actually use the marketplace. There are tens of thousands of apps for WM, just google and you'll find loads. Alternatively have a look at these sites that I get most of my programs from:

http://wmpoweruser.com/
www.freewarepocketpc.net

There are loads of other sites like this all over the net, as well as developer sites (Resco and Sbp for example). Eventually the software will start going to the marketplace wholesale but at the moment take advantage of the huge amount of free software there is.:p

If only it had a resisitive screen and a hardware qwerty keyboard :S I'd jump on this then - I have an upgrade coming up on my vodafone contract.

in this day and age unless it's all available in one place(i.e. appstore/android market) it doesn't exist ;)

That;s your tough luck then.;)

Whilst i'm buying my top of the range Panasonic TV you can go but your krummybergisk rubbish tv from Texco with your shopping.:p

The guy who runs coolsmartphone.com had the HD2 for 4 days and whilst he says it's amazing, he's also said he'd pick the HTC Hero if he had to make a choice between the two. Bear in mind the site has been a WinMo only site for years until recently. I'm out of contract on Vodafone at the moment and wondering whether to give this a try, currently got a G1.
