**HTC HD2 Thread**

Yay my phone turned up :D

Just having a play about with it, but its a very nice phone, really impressive. Taking some getting used to various things, but so glad i got it now.

I've installed a theme pack to change all the icons on my start menu, but the program that did the theme change seems to have messed up the order of my start menu icons. I was happy with the default order, does anyone know how to easily change the order? The only option I have is 'Move to the top' which isn't that useful.

Thinking about getting this phone, found a deal : -
Free Phone
600 minutes + Unlimited Texts with Vodafone Passport
£30 a month
Gifts - 5 months 1/2 price or £10 Auto Cashback

but im just wondering about internet packages? how much do these cost because i guess i will be needing it...

Don't you just wish this amazing device came with Android instead of WinMo?It is still great as it is,but these classic windows menus and apps which are not covered by Sense, look so outdated and ugly, imho.

Had a play of this last night, my dad popped round and he had one so decided to give it a run for its money...was quite surprised at how snappy it is...plus nicely built as is most HTC products.

Still being on Winmo isnt very appealing but the big screen is a bonus...battery life wasnt that great from what my dad was telling especially if your really using it hard but then thats more or less the same with most if not all smartphones these days.

Nice bit of kit tho, i wouldnt get one unless it was running Android...even then id probably give it a miss but if it was running a BB OS then id definitely jump at getting one:p:D

I do find myself wishing it had Android also. I am just getting used to mine at the moment, but would kill for an Android version!

It's amazing with Google Maps (although I'm sure the same as any similar phone). A good map and accurate GPS is fine for me without it blabbing on about "turn left, turn right" etc so I've asked for a car kit for Christmas for it.

Used it yesterday across 100 miles and it picked up and kept 8 satellites for most the way, was pretty damn accurate.

For what its worth, I doubt it has anything to do with Apple.

To give you an idea, in a Top 50 Vodafone store, we deal with 6 or 7 enquiries a week about a HD2. We deal with 20+ a day about the iPhone. Continuing to offer the HD2 would affect iPhone sales, but not to an extent worth worrying about.

Without stereotyping too much I'd guess a higher percentage of HD2 users review and purchase online than iPhone users. I'm sure this is even more so before Christmas where people will be enquiring for the iPhone as a present. Very few will be enquiring for the HD2 as a present :p.

Not bad considering it's been out a month whereas Apple have an advert for the iphone every .0003 seconds somewhere in the world.

trying to make my mind up, I've got an iphone 3g and i'm getting a bit bored of it.
the HD2 seems like the fix, big screen good for media,
as I see it from the posts on here
its quicker.
more customisable (thanks to Winmo)
better build quality (my iphone has been relatively well looked after and is suffering)

no appstore (boo hoo - use the internetz instead)
a few launch bugs that are being resolved.?

think it might be time to stop being an apple fanboi.

Russ how did you put the camera fix on the phone? Do i copy the file straight to the HD2, and install it from the HD2? Or is it done in Windows?

Cookie-Monster I love every single thing about this phone lol. :D

Which one, the official HTC hotfix? Either way, install it on the phone :).

Came across this on XDA ealier: www.rghjones.co.uk/htc/HD2 746028 SuperFine Camera Tweak.cab

Increases the camera resolution to 8mp and in doing so apparently increases the quality (so says everyone that's installed it). Installed but not tested it myself, but I trust most of the people on XDA :).

Well spent all weekend playing with the phone and I love it, all my mates thought it was great as well, really impressive. one question for russ or anyone else, I'm having trouble getting it to log into Facebook, I can log in through the fb app and through a browser fine, but if I try logging in through the fb setting in the data options I think it is, the one that syncs the fb to your contacts etc, it just says connection error all the time. anyone else get this?

Linked the official fix earlier on mate...

http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=0&dl_id=808

Copy it onto your external memory on the phone

Disconnect, go into File Explorer > Storage Card > Where you put the file

Then just tap on it and install :)

As said earlier too, HTC replied to me to ensure me the fixes are being worked on.

and for those who want to know....

The Bebo app has been updated and is now HD2 compatible :)

Downloaded some free minesweeper app too :D
