**HTC HD2 Thread**

Hello again,

There is no date for the expected release of the update, but if you wish to you can sign up for our E-Club to be notified automatically of updates.

With regards to the thread system this is not considered an error and so there will not be an update for this.

Best regards,

Claudia

I've sent a very angry email back, but hopefully XDA will be able to do something. I genuinely send and receive ~50 texts a day and so having to wait for agggess to just text back is an absolute nightmare. Argghh!

:( Keep us posted!

Just ordered my HD2 today, apart from the camera fix and latest rom any other updates/apps/tweaks that you guys would recommend?

I have the same problem with my Diamond. Been searching XDA for ages but no joy on a solution so far. I've had to resort to manually moving all older messages from the inbox/sent items into seperate folders just to speed up the messaging.

The more people that report it the better, so get reporting! :p

This is the reply I sent back:

Dear Claudia,

I'm sorry, but having to wait upwards of a minute to start texting a contact IS an error. Deleting all previous texts - something which I've never had to do on a previous device for the past 7 years - is NOT a solution, and even if it was, not one that I want to be carrying out multiple times per day.

Perhaps HTC should look at the way the iPhone limits the number of past texts it shows, presumably for similar reasons, or, as I suggested, simply allow the user to start typing before the history has fully loaded.

With SMS messaging being my primary activity and this being such a basic and time consuming error (alongside the SMS sending bug) I may have to consider returning the phone.

I guess I now know why my operator (Vodafone) has stopped stocking this product.

Regards,

Russell Jones

FYI, I'n not thinking of returning the phone, just trying to get something done ;):p.

For what its worth, I doubt it has anything to do with Apple.

To give you an idea, in a Top 50 Vodafone store, we deal with 6 or 7 enquiries a week about a HD2. We deal with 20+ a day about the iPhone. Continuing to offer the HD2 would affect iPhone sales, but not to an extent worth worrying about.
I went in to my local TMob store asking them if they had a HD2 to play with, and they said the same sort of thing. Only the top TMbo stores were getting them to see how they are going to sell. What a rubbish idea!!

managed to get tomtom working using the internal gps, managed to pick up the satellites in seconds which i was pretty impressed with. Also managed to install resco explorer ( i think it's called) which is a better app for file management.

If it's that annoying why not just turn threaded SMS off? (I do find it a bit annoying on my HD but it's not that bad, the threading is a bigger positive).

******* Advertise, stupid companies. Having said that it makes our phones more exclusive.;) And you can show iPhone users up when they try and pretend their phone is so brilliant, pull out your phone and do the same thing, then go on the net... :p

Upgrade time - giant Meh!

O2 will let me have the phone for free on a £45pcm contract! :(

Apparently the best price they can do is 40pcm + 50 for the phone :/

Think I'll give T-Mobile a shot :)

Bout to install now

Also hosted it here: www.rghjones.co.uk/htc (easier to go to directly on phone). File is called LEO07567-05.exe.

I got another reply from HTC also:

Hello again,

Although I am unable to change your settings I can pass on your feedback to the relevant department. We are always happy to receive feedback as it is useful for future development. I will however need this feedback form more than just 1 or 2 people. It needs to be a several who are unhappy with the system.

Best regards,

Claudia

So, if anyone else also hates waiting to text, please please please contact them and tell them: http://www.htc.com/uk/CS_Mail.aspx

Whats good for cleaning the screen cos its a magnet for fingerprints. Just didn't want to use something that could effect it. Tried using a cloth but didn't shift them, gonna get a screen protector i think just to keep the finger marks off.

I just rub it on the arm of my t-shirt :o

Got my T-Mob HD2 now, horray!

Very pleased with the lack of branding (no physical branding - and only Opera seems to have been renamed "Web'n'walk" as well as the T-Mobile startup/shutdown screens.

I've prepared a Goldcard - tempted to slap on an official ROM...... or I might just wait for HardSPL..... decisions decisions!

First impressions are very good though....... sooooooooooooooooooo smooth :D

Is anyone having problems opening emails after updating the new rom / txt? I can only view emails by clicking on the all messages tab whereas before i could click on the preview and it would open the message

Nice to see some superb updates fromHTC just now but obviously the most important one is getting the message lag sorted out :( however I am now sportin the newly leaked 1.61 rom which seems to be pretty flawless so far.....:p

Seems to be slightly quicker and apparently eats less battery life, comes with the fixes that have been released so far installed and a new radio version which should help maintain an even stronger reception.

Worrying for Vodafone customers in the UK however is the lack of support we are to recieve as a result of them dropping the handset.

The question was asked of Vodafone on their forums and they replied by saying they were unable to confirm whether they will offer ROM updates. This is a huge blow for anyone who is on the network as without doing it thru the rather strenuous process on XDA you could be stuck on the current software version. The serial on the Vodafone version of the phone doesn't allow you to download ROM updates for the handset however the small fixes they release you can receive.

I really don't know where this would leave us in terms of contract situations because for a lot of us, myself included, have just moved to Vodafone and for the phone to be unsupported just a month in surely isn't right at all.
