**HTC HD2 Thread**

It's alive!!!

I now remember why i loved, and hated the HD2 when i first saw it.

Awesome hardware and feels like you could knock nails in with it. However WM6.5 really let it down.

Now it has android on it, it's superb.

Gonna have a play then have a look at WP7. Just waiting on my 16gb Class 10 card to arrive next week before i really start to mess around with it.

What does very very stable mean? Sounds more like it crashes now and again but it's worth it 'cause it's such a good build.

By stable what we are referring to are that some of the earlier revisions of ROM's have some issues with stability, battery drain or radio etc.

This is because you have to remember that they have been ported by a dedicated team of enthusiasts sat in their bedrooms not HTC themselves, its an astonishing achievment and very commendable thats its even become possible at all.

The ROM I have on mine now is as good as any other build on any "proper" Android device I've used.

Since its release last week I've not had a single 'force close' or reason to reboot my phone.

The irony being that a phone that was never designed for Android is getting version updates quicker than the official Android handsets.

I have had the Coredroid v1.5 on my phone for 3 weeks no crashes very fast and smooth, you need a faster sd card that the phone comes with imho a minimum of x4 speed and 8 or 16 gb as there are reports of the 32 gb card having issues :)

The age old question, £220-£240 on a mint HD2, or £280 on a Desire HD?

I'm interested in tinkering with WP7, and perhaps a WP7/Android dual boot, but is that wise?

I suspect WP7 would just be an 'out of interest' kind of thing.. which is the dilema, because if I just want Android, the Desire HD's are quite cheap and have a smidge extra RAM..

Thoughts?

Dual boot is nice to tinker but soon becomes tedious. Over time you'll either opt for W7 or Android and won't use both constantly.

Having played with W7 I went for Android. Not that I didnt like W7, I just felt Android gave me more freedom.

If it was a choice between the HD2 or DHD, I'd take the DHD every day of the week.

Write Protected / Phone in Mass Storage Mode / It's formatted correctly etc...?

In the settings it says it's read only (when in disk drive mode) - can't see a way to change it.

It has 1.32GB available (2GB card) so I'm a bit stuck at this point.

I did no formatting of my own I just let Magldr etc do it's thing...

Wondering if anyone could let me know which is the current best nand droid rom out there?

I am still on darkstones build from months ago. Is everything ironed out now including BT battery drain?

soundboy, the BT drain is long gone on most nand rom, the important item imho is a decent sd card of at least 4 X and 8 or 16 gb some and I think most roms still have some issue with 32 gb and they are still expensive.

I use Coredroid 1.5 as my daily rom, if you are a gamer then some games don't run - but that does not affect me.
My current battery life on light use and wifi off most of the day is about 40>48 hours and heavy use I still get about 24 hours, about the same as win mo 6.5 stock roms :)

As far as I'm concerned the best rom by a mile is here.

Its simply stock Gingerbread with no bloat & no sense rubbish mixed in with fantastic battery life and superb memory management.

I've flashed about 15 roms in total and have not looked any further since flashing that one.

So im looking to update my ROM today, however I formatted my pc last week and now my phone wont connect via usb to back it all up etc.

It already has a flashed android nand rom. What drivers do I need to dl. I have tried instaling wmdc again but it keeps saying the phone is not connect and wont install. Does it need win mo to install?

I should hopefully be getting one of these in the next couple of days as a stop gap until the dual core beasts are readily available at reasonable prices, so I just need to know where to start, lol! :p

The one I'm hoping to get is already running Android 2.2, but I'd like to upgrade it to 2.3 straight away, as I'm used to CM7 on my San Fran, which ROM is currently the best?

Wouldn't mind having a play with dual booting Windows Phone 7 too, any help and advice much appreciated. :)

Try turning it off, plug USB cable in & then turn it on with the cable plugged in. It may find the drivers that way.

Without question the best ROM is this one.

Nothing but stock Android 2.3.3 with zero Sense crap or other bloat. Its not a CM Rom if thats your thing but I don't care about that stuff and much prefer to customise myself.

Its a simple install, has great battery life and is very quick.

The only reason I opted for CM7 on the San Fran was because there was no other choice if I wanted Gingerbread, I just want something that's fast and stable, and that ROM you've linked to looks perfect, cheers! :D

Thinking of a rom for the wifes hd2 as she is getting peeved off with it constantly crashing, restarting or just locking up. Any (easy) recommendations.

I have had a quick look thru the thread but most of it seems quite complex to me :/
