HTC Vive

I would say it would depend on your intended usage though. If you don't want roomscale, although the only reason why I would imagine is lack of space, and if you wanted to enjoy more simulation type experiences, that extra clarity could be quite a good reason to go for the Rift, in addition to the £200 saving.

Then what about when you move and have enough space? You really want to spend what could be 300 quid on top of the rift to get it to where the Vive is now? Personally we know where we stand with Vive and Oculus being Palmer Luckey and his well off base price predictions etc (basically white lies) then I would rather go with the devil you know.

Well I guess that would come down to if you rent, or own, and how likely is is you are to moving any time soon. If you're expecting to move, you could go with the Vive and look for somewhere with an extra room for that purpose.
By the time you end up moving, if it's not on the cards now, could be a few years, when Gen 2 is possibly out, and then you will likely have even more options.

I know when I move I'll be looking for an additional room, or one where my office space is more suited to roomscale VR, as my current place is a loft conversion, so I am limited on vertical space.

And from what I've heard, the Touch controllers are really nice bits of hardware, and in some ways already feeling better than the Vive controllers. It'll be interesting to see how they evolve over the coming months before they are released.

Personally I chose the hive over oculus due to the fact steam have much more experience on gaming and the biggest platform on PC over the Facebook backed oculus

So you should spend more money on something you cannot fully use to it's potential on the of chance you may move in the future and then can

Could you please link your credible source for the Touch £300 price tag?

True and I'm likely to be moving closer to work in a town more expensive than where I live now and the house we put a deposit on is half the size of the house we have now, so it goes both ways!

I can't find the link now but it was more based on an estimated guess based on the fact Palmer Luckey stated that "it would considerably raise the cost of the Rift if it shipped with the controllers" and that's not even factoring in the room-scale stuff needed for movement etc.

No one knows how much Touch will cost. It could be £200, it could be £500. No one knows.

Personally, I'm expecting it to be nearer the high-end of that figure due to it having some pretty clever tech in it such as capacitive touch buttons and sticks.

I didn't realise Hover Junkers was crowd funded, just gone and backed now so hopefully should get a key soon too :D

Can you not just buy it from the steam store? I'm not sure enough about funding it before release. It just looks too bland and the graphics are just horrible. Most looking forward to Budget Cuts or Space Pirate Trainer for non free launch games!

Elite dangerous looks like a good game to play in VR. Can I buy any version of this and play it on the VIVE and the RIFT?

So if I bought it now from steam I can play with both devices?

Not at the moment. I don't think anything for Vive is available for purchase until the 5th.

There are a few you can buy like like Windlands and the Brookhaven Experiment, just do a search on Steam and narrow by VR support for the Vive.

Hover Junkers is on there but there is no option to buy it yet, it will probably unlock on 5th but I was planning on getting it anyway so don't mind going through the Indiegogo page.

Yeah any version of Elite Dangerous should work, I'm not 100% sure whether they have got it working with the Vive quite yet or not.

I'm pretty sure the Rift have been implemented though

My mistake, I thought the only ones that could be purchased were ones that supported VR, rather than required VR, but seeing as Brookhaven Experiment is on there, and that requires a Vive, that shows me to be completely wrong lol.

Yeah ED now supports Oculus SDK 1.3, so it's fully up to date.
