HTC Vive

Seeing all this unfold, so happy I chose PayPal to pay, even if it did mean playing 5 weeks ago. Seems like a troubled launch for both Vive and Rift :-(.

Oh, the dumb thing was I could have done that but just thought.. eh, lets click the credit card button this time!

*sigh*

To anyone redialing, let me know if it works! I have to go and do things now so can't try again.. good luck!

The general word is that they didn't even attempt a 2nd card charge. Just cancelled all for authorisation failure.

Don't even ask them to change the payment to paypal, as everyone has been told that will create a new order, and put you at the back of the order queue.

Just spoken to support rep, confirmed my original order has definitely been cancelled. Their system does not allow an order to be retried if it has failed the pre-authorisation check, it gets automatically cancelled. A new order has to be raised, but they provided me with a custom URL to give me an April shipping date again.

I ran it through the "wave check" tool, now shows (was original part 1)

Product Name: VIVE Kit - April Shipment Part 2- UK

So, original place lost but not as bad as May. HTC PR is absolute shambles "you will not lose your place, we will recharge your card" - utter rubbish.

Aye, I got the initial 'Action needed' email at 2am and then the cancellation at 9am, pretty much the worst times in the day to expect a response and definitely no 2nd attempt at payment, what a joke.

Was that from a callback or did you try a different number/customer service route? I guess all things considered any April date wouldn't be too bad

I managed to get through on online chat shortly after 9am, and the lady there took my details and called me back 30mins later. Her name was Maaly, she seemed pretty clued up on what she had to do.

I'm caught in customer support hell too. My card expiry date changed between when I placed my order and when they should have taken payment. I wanted to check if this was a problem.

Nothing taken off my credit card.
No e-mails saying their attempt to take payment has been unsuccessful/successful.
I've e-mailed the customer support contact and get two emails back - one saying their contact details have changed, and a second which says my request has been answered but then just repeats my original question.
I try the number give on their new contact details. they then say that need to speak to the 'Vive team' directly.
I do that and no reply...

Basically in limbo and impossible to find out if my order has been successful or not.

Sounds like both the Rift and Vive are having trouble sorting out the delivery process...

Whew

Right after a call lasting 1hr 4minutes I think I am good

I was asked to give control of my PC via a www.logmein123.com session, I agreed and the support rep entered a link into my browser where i was able to reorder but keeping my place in the 1st april wave, the link was (shop.eu.htc.com/promo/00000000) but with a different code at the end. I'm not sure if this was a single use promo code for me specifically or a general one they are using. I dont want to share if its going to tie back to my preorder and they end up cancelling any preorders made with it.

edit: i just tried the link again here, looks like it was single use

great news. I just cancelled my rift and now hear they are giving free delivery away...wondering if that would have persuaded me to keep it...probably not.

roll on April wave 2.

Are you sure you went back into Wave1? I checked my order and it said Wave2.

[Edit] I had to use the same type of URL
