HTC Vive

Lookup option on 5 digits isnt impossible, you could take those last 5 digits at time of entry, hash them and store them in a separate field. Then do the same and use that field for lookup. Technically no longer plain text

PCI is a guideline, there is so much vaguery in the wording of thing that there are so many different ways to implement it and half of them probably arent that secure, believe me I've seen some really crazy crap implemented in the name of PCI

Previously payments were attempted overnight, so likely yes. If the payment is taken tonight and it ships monday I could potentially have it in hand by tuesday.

So I have finally spent some time playing ED with the Vive CR1 and it really does impress! Almost time to throw the TrackIR5 in the bin but before I do... are there any additional tweaks to get the in-game text to appear more clearly? The text on the left navigation, next to the currently selected target, or right status, next to the power distribution, screens are completely illegible! If I pull up the left and right pop up console screens I can at least make out the text if looking directly at those screens.
Apologies for the DP across threads but I guess the actual number of Vive owners is very low! Probably best for the question here.

I'm waiting for mine....:-(

I've heard that the text in some games is pretty bad. first gen issue I guess. Apparently better in the Rift...

Some reports on reddit that the render resolution is too low on ED ie not native for the HMD which could be a factor...

I preordered the Vive so I could get it early and have a couple of weeks with it before I started my new job. However I start it next week and won't be able to devote much time to gaming over the next couple of months.

I've still not received my Vive and I'm tempted to cancel the order. Partially this is due to starting my job, but the more I read about the Rift the more I'm tempted to get one of those in a few months.

Should I cancel the Vive or is it worthwhile me waiting for the delivery and then reselling it if I don't get on with it?

I think you may be right. Changing the resolution in-game between 720p and 1080p seems to make no difference in visual quality at all. Then again my eyesight is atrocious!

Id stick with the Vive Krat, demand for that is higher it seems and the backlog is still going to be months so you have fair chance to resell it.

You might make a profit but its not guaranteed and I wouldn't be planning on doing it for that reason, but its reasonable to expect you will definitely be able to get your money back on it

Just FYI for anyone thinking of ordering soon, I ordered last night and have an expected delivery of June.

Now I just need to build a new rig to power it! Hoping Pascal will be out in time :)

Boom. I'm still holding for April.

Decided to keep it in the lounge and move my computer up stairs to the lounge from my small office for the odd evening.

Just had a go on my brother-in-laws Vive. Seriously impressed. More so than I thought I would be. All the things people mention like res, screen door you can see but you just forget about them after like 2 mins lol :)

It has made the wait till May a lot easier now as I know it's more than worth it!

I posted previously but my 2.6 x 2 m is constantly triggering the Chaperone grid so yeah try for 2.5 x 2.5 as a minimum if you can.

Thanks for the info. Just realised I used a dash rather than an x in my room sizes.

Hoping for 3x4 in the lounge...going to do some measurements today. Also ordered contact lenses so I don't need to worry about my massive black framed glasses!

Cheers, I'll probably do that. I'm not keen on buying something with a view to selling it on - on principle I'd rather cancel and then and let someone who wants one jump up the waiting list.

But I think I'll get it and see how I get on with it. There's always the fallback position of resale...

Clearly thought my lounge was bigger.

It is L shaped.

Moving both sofas back a bit I can get 2.6x3.4m rectangle which feels decent enough.

Planning on using it in the lounge mostly. As I think I'll see it more of a social thing with friedns, rather than in my office where there isn't enough space to "hang out".

Had my Vive for 4 days now yet run into a problem with it. While playing the screen sometimes just goes blank, tracking is still fine and all cables are still connected firmly, have to reboot the vr system to get it working again. Highly annoying.
