HTC Vive

Try going into the options in the Steam VR dashboard (while in VR, not the desktop) and use the reset seated position option. Obviously make sure you are facing the way you want and sat down as you would be to watch a video.

I don't take too much notice of the orientation during SteamVR setup, it never goes in the way I want no matter how much I manually adjust my play space, the only useful thing it seems to do is put the small arrow marker on the floor in the SteamVR home so I know which way I'm facing after coming out of a game.

That sorted it. Thanks

Anyone worked out how to reset the camera view when you double-tap the system button? I've somehow turned on "Tron" mode and I have no idea how to turn it back to the normal colour image.

Cheers, Paul.

In the steamVR settings there's a camera section and I think it says something like enable chaperone for room view

Just double checked mine and in the vr settings\camera\enable room view, the bottom setting it says double click to enable room view, I enabled that and it came on when double clicked and un-ticked it and that switched it off.

All that currently does it enable or disable the tron view.

EDIT;
So if you just enable camera and allow camera in dashboard it actually appears when you open up the Steam dashboard. Good enough for me.

Is anyone using their HTC Vive on the Insider Preview fast ring?

Wondering if I should get back on to the standard release cycle for additional stability with the Vive when it arrive tomorrow...

No idea what that is but I did try Steam VR Beta for a day before going back to the standard release as I was having issues starting VR and odd glitches where I could not select anything in the dashboard.

If I "Play" SteamVR from Steam all I get is two boxes. 1 that says Headset not detected. 1 that says Not Ready with five icons (hmd...controllers.etc)

What dashboard are you referring to?

When I click SteamVR drop down in that second box (with the icons) and select Run Room Setup I get "Could not start openvr.tool.steamvr_room_stepup" error.

Is this normal for someone that hasn't plugged in a Vive yet?
