HTC Vive

This thing is INCREDIBLE. So glad I got one.

Also don't worry so much about trying to set it all up before your Vive gets there... its not a big deal, just follow the instructions. It took me maybe half an hour?

Also have you run the ViveSetup.exe yet? Or are you waiting for the Vive to arrive...I've just started installing it.
Not sure if directed at me or not. I received my Vive on the 11th and just went through the setup process after it arrived. It just worked for me. Good luck.

I was running my Vive for a few days without running the Vive setup at all and it was working OK just through SteamVR. Had to install it to pair it with my phone though

well I've installed vivesetuo.exe. all it does is download and install some software. Then gave you a tutorial on how to set up hardware.

Got some effort tomorrow night. Move PC upstairs to lounge..had to buy a dp to mini dp as my card only has 1 HDMI that'll be needed for the TV.

Trying to catch up with work and avoiding the Vive as much as possible, but I just cant resist a few rounds of the Longbow game in Labs. So very relaxing. Whatever stress I have about my job is gone when I'm in there.

Just found out the dp to mini dp I bought is cheap and connects the 20pin which blows stuff up. So say more recent reviews anyway.

Returned and ordered a better one...apparently.

I just got one from amazon for about £6.50. I realised on the day that it arrived that I had forgotten it, and had friends coming around... used Amazon 2 hour delivery to save my VR party plans!

that might be the one I've just returned. read about the horrors of the 20pin carrying power back into the graphics card.

just returned it and bought an accell one. £3 more, but apparently proper VESA compliant.

the 6.50 one is probably fine..but in 2-3months when somthing goes...the cable apparently could be the issue.

Vive doesnt arrive til tomorrow, so hopefully prime wont let me down..otherwise I'll be taking my monitor upstairs into the lounge too (that has dvi)

My Vive should be coming to me in May.

I've currently got:

Zotac GeForce GTX 980Ti AMP Edition 6144MB
BenQ XL2430T

Is there anything I should be getting, other than the lighthouse stands, in order for things to go smoothly on the day it comes?

Only things I have ordered were a longer USB 3.0 A to A cable for the breakout box as the stock one was very short (HDMI cable looks short too but I had to buy a mini DP cable anyway) and the water proof VR cover for the face foam as it likes to soak sweat up which gets pretty disgusting if you are showing friends.

There is a bit of a waiting list on the VR covers so it's worth ordering in advance if you are planning on doing any of the active room scale games.

There is also a Kickstarter for custom fit Vive glasses I've backed too as it's a bit annoying constantly adjusting my normal pair.

Mine is due tomorrow and my GFX card only has mini DP / min HDMI ports so I'm guessing I will need either an mDP to mDP cable or a mini HDMI to HDMI cable to connect to link box?

Think my old GTX 580 came with the mini HDMI cable so might be in luck...

Unfortunately I am struggling to find the time to use mine, up for sale in the MM in case anyone has a later delivery date and fancies getting their hands on one this week :)

Gah I've already got two active orders due to HTC screw ups but still no ship date, then you make yours available :o I don't need three, I don't need three, I don't need three...

revive wrapper updated to 0.4, bugs fixed and Oculus touch supported/emulated

So anything made with Unity for the Rift previously should now work.

This release adds Oculus Touch/Remote support and fixes issues in Farlands, Henry and Lucky's Tale.

Besides compatibility changes, the ReviveInjector has been improved and can now be used for any Oculus Home game.

New features
Added support for Oculus Touch and Oculus Remote using the Vive controllers.
ReviveInjector can now hook into any Oculus Home game.
Switched to XInput 1.3 for Windows 7 support.
Reduced flickering and latency.

Bug fixes
Fixed controllers not working in Lucky's Tale and Technolust (#29).
Fixed not being able to take snapshots in Farlands (#5).
Fixed sepia colors in Henry (#3).
If you need to recenter the headset you can do so in the Steam VR dashboard by holding down the Dashboard button and selecting Recenter seated position.
