Huel: The Future of Food ..

Well vanilla would probably taste like dreadful school custard and I imagine unflavoured would just be like a bowl of finely milled oats, not sure either would be particularly satisfying in that respect!

Indeed. I'm not brave enough to try.... though with warm milk it might be okay? I just don't like eating cold food on a cold days (yes yes I'm strange...).

Anyone ever used this on a bulk?

Tempted to use it to add some calories in a convenient way.

I've bulked on Huel. It's pretty straight forward:

1 scoop = 38g = 157 calories
2 scoops = 76g = 314 calories
3 scoops = 114g = 471 calories
4 scoops = 152g = 628 calories

Divide grams by 3 for rough amount of protein. I tend to go with 4 scoops as 50g of protein is a nice round no. and it is, imo, far better than a protein shake post workout.

Has anyone tried it warm? In this weather when it's constantly -something C I don't think I could deal with a cold shake. Hence why hot whole food is amazing! :D

I haven't and can't imagine it's nice. Huel tends to be better colder - warm sounds nasty!

That's over 25 scoops for 4000 cals!

Don't worry I'm not going to try it warm. As I am a casual user of Huel, it is unlikely I will be using it much over winter anyway. It's just won't be my go to for a warm comforting snack! (which in this weather, is hard to beat porridge IMO. But I love the stuff).

I'm thinking about drinking a bottle of Tabasco today or maybe eating spoonfuls of Sriracha, lack of flavour and spice is what's getting to me!

If you're using it for bulking as an addition to normal proper food then it seems like a very expensive way to do what some oats, whey and PB would do.

Makes sense. I don't use it just to bulk up on top of meals though - Huel's over half the food I consume. And better for you by a way than oats, protein powder and peanut butter etc.

I wouldn't say so in the cases I'm talking about to be honest.
I understand it's not your normal usage but like I said if eating a full normal food diet and then using it to bulk up your intake it's just a rather expensive and over engineered way of doing so.

In the case of it making up a large part of your diet and therefore being the main source of your vitamins, minerals and macros then I fully agree Huel is the better option as it's much more rounded and has a complete nutritional profile.

Is it that clear cut? I'd class bulking on peanut butter and porridge as dirty bulking. It's easy to get the calories, but if given the choice i'd rather they had some goodness.

To be honest I'm looking at it very much from a cost/reward point of view, there's nothing wrong with using it as an addition to bulking.
It's just not a very efficient way to add extra calories in my mind.

PB and oats is far from "dirty" though.
