Huel: The Future of Food ..

I think i will go for vanilla (so i can make it a bit chocolate-y) aaaaand...how is banana? I am thinking if i am gonna try full huel for a week, banana could be sensible to make it "fruit"y.

I will be having coffee so coffee caramel is maybe not a sensible idea.

I quite like the banana myself. It is my first bag of huel though!
Lost 3 pounds since last Monday, have cut my calories right back and no snacking but am assuming some of that is water weight.

I have the odd banana or 2 but never had a banana milkshake. :p

Yeah weight goes up and down (not always down but overall on a downwards trend) depending on water content and you'll probably end up drinking more almost out of boredom! Well done mate!

Just as an interesting note on weight and water loss... Last Wednesday morning I was 15st 7.4lbs, then Thursday afternoon I did a 3.5hour indoor cycle, (Strava said it was my highest ever Relative Effort) which almost killed me! I sweat so much, gave so much effort... then out of interest I jumped on the scales right after and I was something like 14st 12!!! (or maybe it waved around 14st 13 and 15, I forget now and didn't keep it). The next morning I was 15st 2.7 and by Saturday I was 15st 3.9, so as I rehydrated, the weight mostly came back.

Anyway, maybe more relevant for the weight loss thread. Perhaps I'll copy and paste it there too :)

I have tried a protein shake with water before...never again. Just tastes so ew. So it'll be milk (i know calories go up!) but it'll work out as what I need at least. Unsure how you guys do it without milk. :o

Gone for vanilla (so i can add chocolate powder) and banana. Excited to join the club and get the t-shirt...literally.

Goes really thick with milk, but is very nice.

I settled on 300ml water per 50g Huel I don't like it thick at all.
Huel is nothing like a protein shake.

Got my MyProtein "Meal Replacement Fuel" yesterday. Had it last night around 9pm. Definitely not like Huel, doesn't "feel" like a meal as much if that makes sense. Much thinner and sweeter, more like a regular protein shake.

For a third of the price though it works for me, and could be an option for people just using Huel to top up calories rather than replacing an actual meal. Still made with pea protein and includes various vitamins etc.

Definitely have a play around with various amounts of water, hand shaking vs blended, ice no ice, mixing in some milk etc. as above it's nothing like protein shakes and I'm perfectly happy with water + ice + blender, started off with oat or almond milk but it's a bit too thick for me.

Also got to try the madras today (sample pack) and it's a winner for me, lovely taste and much more filling than huel on it's own. I had two scoops around 5pm and I've only just started to feel hungry now (9pm). Texture is a little weird but i can get used to it, I'll probably add a bit more water next time so it's more like a dhal, avoid if you don't like spice as it's actually got some decent kick. I'll replace my lunch with it for a couple weeks and if I still like it I'll probably switch to it for the colder months.

I recommend using water and mixing it up about 6-12 hours before and leaving it in the fridge before drinking it. It’s much easier to drink and doesn’t taste like diarrhoea with random powder chunks in it... more like a thinner porridge.
