Hungarian Grand Prix 2012, Budapest - Race 11/20

I'm fairly indifferent to RBR but suprised by the hate towards them on here at times. Can't help but feel if it was Mclaren people would be more accepting.

Ferrari have sucked in out right pace before multiple times and started way down the grid and still done very well. That is in large part down to Alonso being a great driver, but in huge part because qualifying pace is so far ahead of race pace due to the tyres.

Being unable to do laps at 1:20.9 doesn't matter a bit if the fastest lap in the race anyone will do is 1:25, if their tyre wear is better at race pace than another car, then qualifying doesn't make a huge difference.

Should be a good race, Hamilton looks like the car has pace and he's driving the track incredibly well, the car is good while Mclaren aren't in a horrendous run of pit stops(I know its probably jinxed it :p ). Vettel showing late pace yet again, Ferrari generally being so much stronger in races than qualifying, Lotus looking decent.

The first 2 times you can see that they were pushing the boundaries of the rules, they got a slap on the wrist and that was it. I didn't get any feeling about it one way or another - it happens to all teams at times.

What is very different this time is that they've implemented something on their cars that obviously is designed to cheat the system. If all that's been said is true then they should get punished hard for it!

yep it's one thing to take the rules and work in grey areas or different readings of the rules, but this system seems to be designed clearly against the rules and to cheat the sport.

Is Todt too weak when it comes to F1? he never seems to actually be involved like Mad Max was :D

It's an interesting thought. Unlike Thwax's time where he was protesting his own stewards conclusions, all Toad seems to do it turn up occasionally, shake peoples hands and hide in the Ferrari or Mercedes motorhome.

It's not like Webber didn't have pace:

Mark Webber Red Bull-Renault 1m21.550s

in Practice 3 ^ .... Enough to get 4th in Qualifying if he'd have hooked that up then instead.

Why he didn't get into Q3 then, I'm not sure :s

Doesn't look like there will be thunderstorms during race, BBC forecast is more like 5pm... could be light rain showers with sunshine though :)

Great pole from Lewis.

Going for Lewis win, Grosjean 2nd and Jenson 3rd

* McLaren updates working VERY well :D:p

Well quali was fun! Do like the BBC highlights despite missing everything live this weekend :( (lee mckenzie helps)

Also good to see the SERIOUS BUSINESS is back on form :p nothing like a couple of pages of slightly random F1 bickering.

Ok but it didn't mean anything to Schumacher, if the results had stayed the same he would have still lost the championship - so 2nd or NC doesn't make much difference. They should have done the same when he crashed into Hill just after he crashed into the wall damaging his car but that result stood.

And it's different because it's an individual over a whole team, but I take your point. If they did the same to RBR they would lose the Constructors points but could leave the drivers points intact, same as they did to Mclaren.

i didnt think i needed to but here goes

oh wait its hill so its perfectly acceptable driving

The Merc's are terrible. Schumacher will only just make it into Q2, be out qualified by Rosberg, and then crash into somebody in the race.
im glad you now realise that.

its pretty shocking that one of the major teams of f1 can bring no updates to the car for many races while everyone else has had atleast 2 fairly big upgrade packages in that time...

it wont be long until caterham are beating the mercs if this continues

I predict that narain will come last in every single qualify in 2013. I wonder what the odds are on that if I go for an accumulator at the bookies? :D

I didn't even realise there was another gp this week.
