Hungarian Grand Prix 2014, Hungaroring Race - 11/19

Thanks guys... I was going for Sebastian as a first name for a bit, missus really wanted Castiel but I thought it was a bit too OTT so in the end we settled on a name that we both love with Ethan. Uber difficult choosing a name this time around, we chose Jenson pretty much straight after I mentioned it.

This was from the following short list:

Ayrton
Ethan
Castiel
Jake
Kye
Olly
Dayton
Jayson
Kane
Jesse
Sebastian
Oakley
Kade

The only names I/we liked from looking at a few thousand names!

I was just about to post this exact same thing about Lewis.

I've been impressed with the way he has handled himself post Silverstone, he was obviously upset after Qualifying in Hungary but he didn't carry any of that childish aura that he sometimes tends to, just knuckled down with the job at hand and delivered a decent result on Sunday.

Credit where credit's due.

I was listening to the race in the car while stuck in a major jam on the a303 and was thrilled at the finish. I honestly thought this season was going to be a big brown stain but it's been decent. Alonso and Ricciardo are class acts and fair play to Hamilton for challenging for the win. Rosberg seriously screwed up. Yes, the SC period probably didn't help but you have to deal with that.

Caught up with the F1 show yesterday and heard Ted noting a rumour of Button going to Williams and Bottas going to Mclaren next year, not seen that one anywhere. Sounds like your typical silly season talk I think !

Eric has a good quip in the debrief that apparently we are signing Bottas......because he gave his friend (Bottas's agent) a lift somewhere....SIGNED! SEALED! DELIVERED!

I know that there's been a lot of water under the bridge, but surely Frank Williams wouldn't be best pleased to see Jenson back after their previous history.

Surely Bottas is better off staying at Williams?

Hmmm. Williams are very much peaks and troughs at the moment. They have jumped forward due to the rules change, but there is little proof that they will stay there next year, or even for the rest of this year.

McLaren are a more solid and stable team in performing highly. I expect given the choice Bottas would go there, providing its a multi year deal. The question is though, how hard would Williams fight to keep him?

McLaren are a more solid and stable team in performing highly.

Historically, maybe, but not recently. Also with them switching to Honda next year it's a complete unknown, especially given the other engine manufacturers have such a head start in practical running terms.

Staying put at Williams is risky for the reasons you gave, but then so is moving to McLaren given their recent level.

Gambles sometimes pay off. Most people thought that Hamilton's move to struggling Mercedes was a bad idea.

Surely (if that were the case) McLaren wouldn't run a Bottas/Magnussen pairing? If not then where would Mag end up, would seem a bit harsh for him to lose his seat, although it's possible... McLaren would surely be looking for a known quantity, especially with a new engine being brought in.

Id say this year can only make things better for Williams next year. Finish higher in the standings so more money, more chance of sponsorship, which leads to more money for car development.

McLaren has had this for years and they are getting worse! Something big needs to chance at McLaren and to make the seat more appealing they need a car gaining podiums for the remaining races, not finishing in the lower points.

Some people must've thought I'd gone bonkers when I pointed this out 2 years ago, but McLaren have lost their will to win.
Playing happy families is far more important to them than winning.
And this became evident when Hamilton felt he had to get out.

I know that they built a big in-house factory for their road car division, so I'm not sure if they see themselves more as a road car manufacturer, as opposed to a racing team. Perhaps F1 is not important to them.

Once they bring in a top line driver, they will find their feet, but until then, they will be content "treading water" and finishing in 8th-10th place.
