Wasn't not changing gears to do with protecting the gearbox? That's what I seemed to infer from DC's commentary.

But as DC said its also all part of hydrolic system. Depends exactly how it works, but assume there's only one pump.

We've no idea as they don't broadcast the whole message. The message that got Rosberg in trouble wasn't broadcast, for example.

Unless Hamilton is saying that on the radio to cover himself for backing into Rosberg on purpose, I'd say there is a problem because frankly Hamilton just kills Rosberg here, every year he's miles faster. Holding him behind on crazy old tires or on slower compounds.

No, because Ricciardo isn't a threat to them in constructors or drivers championship so why would they?

Would they use team orders due to the threat of Ricciardo? No.

Would they use Ricciardo as an excuse to use team orders to gift Rosberg the win...?
