I was completely not paying attention the last few laps, how did Rosberg gain, was it bit by bit over several laps or was Hamilton held up by backmarkers badly at some point?

I really can't tell, the team certainly felt like me that struggling for pace was an excuse to back Rosberg up a bit. I do think one of the main reasons for Hamilton to do that is to protect his engine as much as possible.

It's also possible that his engine is simply much older and has less power and/or he knows this engine is supposed to run in Germany as well where Rosberg hasn't really got any problems with engine parts.

Really? He heading towards my list of drivers who don't deserve to be in F1 and are wasting a seat.
