Hurricane Sandy

Isn't it about time we had the tech to stop hurricanes? I can understand not being able to stop earthquakes etc, but a hurricane is different, if we could put a man on the moon 40 something years ago, surely we'd be able to stop hurricanes by now. :/

Sorry but this is really unrelated but i was just watching CNN to catch up with whats Happening. When the advert's started playing. Is scott mills the voiceover for CNN? :| Sounds like him!

Taken from Facebook - This is a pretty crazy pic.

Really? What technology do you propose??

Next you'll be suggesting we can stop volcano's and tsunamis. Unfortunately they're all natural disasters and no amount of technology will be able to stop them.

The only thing we can use technology for is to track them early on to better prepare for a disaster, and maybe accurately track hurricanes to provide better updates.

A really really big Dyson? :p

Seriously though I have no idea as I'm not a scientist, but it isn't anything like Volcanos and Tsunamis as a Tsunami is a few million tons of water heading towards a city, and a Volcano is connected to the planet itself and contains probably the hottest substance on the planet. A hurricane on the other hand is just a big ball of ****ed off wind, the easiest of the disasters to nullify should we ever try to do so. Considering all the useless things they have scientists working on these days, it wouldn't be too redundant to suggest some might try something like this at some point. Who knows if they breakthrough and actually get results, they could possibly move on to the bigger, badder NDs.
