What time does the hurricane properly kick-off??? I don't want to miss the excitement.

Kick off is around midnight apparently. Pre match interviews for now, team sheets to come.

It is about 55 miles off the coast, they expect it to hit sometime late tonight / early tomorrow morning UK time.

What makes this hurricane so special? Seems to be getting a lot of media coverage for a Cat 1. Haven't really taken any notice of it on the news.

All the special events happening. Full moon (high tides), high pressure from the north east, and cold winds coming from the north west basically fuelling and pushing the hurricane up the new york path so to speak

Category only refers to windspeed. This storm has a Barometric pressure of a Cat 3 / 4 hurricane. So flooding will be massive. Its also expected to dump 10-15 feat of snow. Its 1000 miles wide and is very slow moving so will be going on none stop for a few days and maybe even a week..

^ also it's the largest Atlantic hurricane in history, and most intense ever recorded in this location. Plus direct hit when it reaches land, rather than skirting past.

HMS (replica) Bounty has sunk... What the hell was they thinking putting that ship in a vicinity of a Hurricane.

The current Bounty was built for the 1962 movie Mutiny on the Bounty with Marlon Brando and has since appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

The original Bounty is known for the mutiny that took place in Tahiti in 1789.

As its about to hit a highly populated region they cant brush over any fatalities or minimise the impact, this must be the most covered/watched/publicised storm this century?

I say "brush over" in ref to Andrew that churned up bodies of the homeless for months around the everglades these were never taken into account in the official figures.

On a lighter note my second priority will be watching the 2 presidential candidates and how they handle the next 48hours this election is going to be won or lost on how they re-act, which gives Obama an advantage dont you think?

Republicans in the South will no doubt put Sandy down to God's judgement on America voting in a black president, this event being the warning that they better not do it again.
