Hyper 580W Modular : BANG!!

I have the modular 580W Type-R in my X2 3800 PC. It's been in there for just coming up to a year now, with the CPU not being 100% loaded for probably about 2 weeks of that (F@H). So far it's going strong and can handle games fine when my X1900XT kicks into 3D clocks, but all of these problems are getting me worried.

Hm....

Was just about to buy one of these, would have done if they'd been in stock. Sounds like I should probably steer clear.

Can anyone reccomend a decent 600Watt PSU :)

Corsair 620W. Can't beat it :)

You have some nice hardware. With the system fully loaded with f@h I wouldnt risk it.

Friend of mine had his 14 month old HipeR 580W blow on him mid-installation of Tom Clancy : Vegas. Took the Intel mboard with it! No sparks or smoke, just a thud and very nasty smell.

I will stick to my Tagans and he is going for Corsair this time around!

My Hiper blew within a week of getting it. Luckily it didn't do any damage. Sent it back, got an Enermax and never looked back.

It also didn't fit properly in my Black Widow, which I have vowed never to get rid of!

Just got one, not installed yet. Dont know if i'll keep it now, tbh.

Not building new pc for a few months yet, as im taking the slow route (gradually getting bits), think i may send it back. Although, can it just be that a they sell LOADS compared to other manufacturers, so their probable 10% or whatever failure rate looks bigger than normal?
