Hyundai ImageQuest L90D+ 19" TFT

The way I understand it is that 16.7m isn't achieved by dithering, hence the rating of 16.2m. Every monitor so far thats had 16.2m colours has had 6bits per colour rather than 8bit, allowing at most, 262144 distinct colours. These are then dithered to make up the 16.2M colours.

Are you On Crack, I would believe the manufacturers not some
review.

For the Record I have Just spoken To Jan Karlsson (Very Senior Guy ) who has confirmed 16.7m Colours is correct.

Good to know Fatboy.

So how certain are you these will be in Mon / Tue next week?

I have a copy of the waybill in my hands, I have a courier booked to same day from the airport all sorted. Our distributor and hyundai have really looked after us on this one. Pending natural disasters everything is looking sweet.
:)

I think you are the one on crack. Manufacturers are not always truthfull and sometimes even change specs half way through. Saying 16.7m doesn't mean much, I would rather know if it is a true 8bit panel or a 6bit panel. If it is the samsung 8ms panel, you can check the specs on www.samsung.com website. There it says it is 16.7 but it is a TN panel which means it is probably 6bit since fast TN panels are mostly 6bit. Maybe they have a better dithering which creates the 16.7m colours?

Nevertheless I would rather believe the reviews from sites like xbit, Tomshardware and the french site since they review the LCDs in depth and professionally and not give useless user-based opinions of performance. I have noticed that response times and colour reproduction claims are very flexible when it comes to LCD's.

And who on earth is Jan Karlsson?

Toms hardware - I don't understand what people have against them? I also don't see what is so biased about their monitor reviews. They seem similar to xbit. (which I think has the best monitor reviews since they measure response times.)

Just because they might have done something wrong in the past doesn't mean they are damned for eternity. They have sometimes very good reviews.

Dear Sir

Thank you for your email, at present there are over 100 pre orders for the monitor, i would not be able to guarantee stock to be with us to full fill all the back orders at this time

Hmm :(

Sir,

Yes these are supposed to be arriving on Thursday and we should have plenty to cover back orders and more.

Now I'm concerned. Though Fatboy has said the shipment is into four figures in terms of units.

I trust OcUK, but I will be seriously ****** off if it doesn't come for Christmas (Well I need it by Thursday tbh).

If this is a dithering monitor, it just means to display some colours, a pixel will change between the 2 closest colours - giving the impression its a shade inbetween (eg changing between red and blue would give purple if done quick enough). It's only noticeable very occasionally, mainly in low resolutions (eg watching dvds). However, dithering monitors so far have been 16.2M colours, and the specs say this is 16.7M.

That quoted e-mail is of some concern, 100 pre-oreders and 4 figure stock is a fair difference. Either it is fiction or someone at OCUK is telling porkies which I would say is even worse and doesn't reflect well on an otherwise well run operation imo.

So what is the truth???

Pre - Orders and Stock arriving are two completely different things we have a four figure quantity of stock arriving and we now have well in excess of 100 back orders.

Anyone who has an order or places an order now will be recieving a monitor. Due to our great relationship with Hyundai and there distributors we will be the first and will have the exclusive well into the new year.

I have had a meeting with our sales team this morning and Ironed out any confusion that there may have been.

Cheers, the Internet, such a great place for misunderstandings and confusion the greatest source of which is usually forums!

Can't wait to get these monitors and get them running, good job I got one for the wife as well should mean I get plenty of time to play;)

I will send everyone on the list an e-mail the moment they arrive.

Fatboy: Definitely send me an e-mail when the LCDs arrive.

I'm running with an old Relisys CRT after the Iiyama went on the blink for no apparent reason. I think I'm getting radiation burns from the sub-standard screen (people have been asking if I'm just back from somewhere hot!!!).
