I am alive at the best possible time

However, after many years working in IT and seeing the state of this planet on the news every day. Murder, rape terrorism, global warming, etc. etc. sometimes I think it would be great to go back to those times.

I think people forget that this period in history is the least violent ever. There has never been a safer time, in the history of the earth, to live. The world gets safer every century, it's just hard to see.

If you let murder, rape and terrorism get you down then more fool you.

If I was born 100 years ago: Poor technology, hospitals a waste of time, no sport, no real transport etc etc essentially a much lower quality of life.

If I was born 100 years from now: Mega advanced technology - probably too advanced, global warming, no animals left, rainforest gone so probably no oxygen, maybe all fossil fuels have gone etc priminister is a robot blabla all the doom stories one will probably happen (especially no animals left). For some reason I can't imagine music existing past 2050, and there will be about 25million billion people so the world will be dead

Right now there is great technology, good standard of living, and I still have the chance to experience wildlife if I want to (the world is still alive). Maybe if I was born 20 years earlier it would be better cos Id have a good chance of seeing a Tiger which was numero uno animal until humans came along

If you were born between 1960-1990 then you are alive at the best time

Indeed! our era is the technological revolution, in our lifetime we will see many great things and can be proud (or maybe not in some cases!) that we lived at a time when this happened, that we saw the world develop into what it will become and how it will most likely end by our own hand.

If we lived 100 years earlier we'd be too far behind to see such things develop whilst 100years later we're already using the new technology and living in the future, the awesome things of the 21st century would be gone and nothing amazing would be left to see.

We've seen great movies with great actors, we've seen space walks live as a nation, we've see diseases on the brink of being cured, we've seen the mapping of the human genome and not forgetting the birth and growth of the net where anyone anywhere can have their say and become instant stars!

None of these will be the same 100 years on, our time is THE time to be alive.

In the future our limbs will be cut off and mechanical limbs with guns will be put on.
I want to live in the future.
:)

While I am more than happy with today I would love to see space travel become a reality, ala startrek style not sent a radio controlled toy to the moon to take holiday snaps. Or more importantly be alive when live outside of earth is discovered and communicated with, because its gotta happen some day, we cant be the only planet in the universe that has life.

I grew up in a little village in one of the poorest placest in the world. The nearest road was two days walk away, the nearest hospital three days, and people lived off what they could grow.

Their lives were essentially medieval. In some ways it was idyllic, and people did genuinely seem as happy as they do in the west. Locals (men, women, children) worked all day in the fields, ate the same meal every day (vegetarian curry and rice type thing), slept when it was dark, and men got drunk at the weekends and religious festivals on stupidly strong home-made alcohol.

Newcastle?

"in another 100 yeras life will be even better."

do you think we will have poisened the planet by then?

white people will be 5% of the population, probably enslaved

The World started when i was born & ends when i die, There is No other time. One day everyone will realise that when they die the World ends & Chaos will destroy this Civilised World :D

in another 100 yeras life will be even better. we will still be alive, we will still have fuel to power technology. We will still have oxygen to breath.

Anyway it doesn't really matter when you live. Technology always advances so you generally live better than your farthers and you don't know about all this great technology so you didn't miss it.

Quite agree.

That was a failure of society. The technology didn't just disappear, just the will to exploit it.

ideas/knowledge were forgotten and had to be re-discovered

Arabs had even built a mechanical computer some 1000 years ago

People were even electroplating (gold plating) 2000yrs ago

Have you ever heard of the city of Babylon?
