I am Godzilla. You are Japan.

GTR = Awesome, sick car, but at the end of the day it ain't pretty. It's also the Tesco Value of supercars :D
Aston/Lambo etc = Beautiful car.

I'd love to get a GTR and drive around with my trance music on full blast. I'd also like to drive an Aston with some classical notes on.

Why is it "The tesco value of supercars"

I keep coming back to this thread to catch a cheeky look at this car. Really is quite stunning!

It's let down slightly by :

Went and saw one yesterday down at the local Nissan dealership with my bro whos drooling at getting one...i have to say in the flesh its such a nice nice car...really is a piece of work and it just looks so bloody mean sitting there. Brother wanted to take it out for a test drive so the guy said he will get back to us tommorrow with a dat if he can fit us in. Went there to look at a Nissan Qashqai for his missus and i saw the GTR there and promptly told my brother.

It really is a nice piece of engineering both inside and outside...only thing that puts me off is the amount of electronic gadgetry within the car...with that much you might as well just sit back and let the car do the driving...it definitely is a playstation on wheels but thats not such a bad thing tbh...the guy did turn it on...not the engine as it was inside the showroom but i was over awed by the electronics in there.

My brother on the other hand just sat there with a big cheshire cat grin...hes now thinking of selling the R32 he has and putting what he gets from that towards a GTR...luckily for him his R32 is only a yr old so he should get a decent price for it.

Why do people moan all the time about the amount of technology in the GTR? Look at any modern Porsche or Ferrari etc.. they all have tonnes of super sophisticated electronic driver aids .

Do they??..they probably do but not to the extent that the GTR has...ive never seen a ferrari or porsche..where you can sit for a good while and dial the car in ie set it up via a tv screen lol. Personally for me its off putting..id rather much jump in a car...press a few buttons ie turn off traction control and then slam my foot down and enjoy the ride...unlike the GTR where you can spend a good while setting it up...when i was sat there listening to the guy i got bored lol. I could see myself falling asleep trying to set it up but i guess once its set up then you dont need to touch it again.

Seriously though not having a moan...i just found it quite amazing really at the amount of electronic gadgetry going on in that car. Personally i dont know if the GTR is a car that you can put on the edge...its one of the biggest reasons my bro in Canada, who owns a tuned Dinan M3 convertible always puts a big damn smile on my face...his car pumps out 365 bhp which is close to a CSL and its just so raw edged and scares the living **** out of me everytime im there and he drives it...the fully ceramic exhaust system sounds gorgeous. I love the absolute raw animal in that car whereas i find the R32 that my other brother owns is just a bit too refined for me...its not a car that scares me by any means.

But after seeing the GTR in the flesh...its a pretty impressive car and im no fan of jap cars tbqh but the GTR is one i wouldnt mind having in my garage.

The more buttons the better, then again i am a techno geek. If i had one i'd spend days fiddling with all the settings, reading the manual etc.

Lovely car.

The screen is just for monitoring really, the 'setup' is just the 3 big switches on the dash. A BMW M car with the iDrive thing is quite a bit more technical, I know Audi's have a similarly whizz-bang system.

The total adjustment on my RS4 is a sport button that sharpens the throttle map and opens the rear baffles and a TC button which I can turn off but doesnt actually turn it fully off, the rest is 'sorted' without any influence from me. The current GT3 also has some clever stuff but all of it can be switched off and my 996 GT3 had....er.....ABS. The Nissan has loads of clever technology, much more than the GT3 and is a very clever car and has been seen very very quick over a lap and I suspect a fantastic road car. To compare it with a GT3 is wrong however as it won't take the same amount of punishment over and over again which is why most of the people who bought them for road and track have bailed. As a road car I don't think anything is quicker today in the real world.

very nice. The misses likes it to :) The most beautiful car from japan ever.

You ordered this some time ago, didn't you. I seem to remember reading some other threads on this.

Random question - the configurator on the nissan website seems to suggest, there are basically 3 versions. Was there much you could add in optional extras, or much choice over alloys etc?

I have no idea what you are talking about.

I paid the deposit in June last year, so it's been a bit of a wait but worth it.

Yep, 3 variations, standard, Premium and Black. As far as options, you sort of buy them by choosing your variation. So if you want black wheels, you go for the Black edition etc. Any extras are offered by the HPCs and seem to vary from one to another. Choices from Middlehurst were:

Delivery pack (oil/fuel/mats)
Carbon heel mats
Carbon vents/skirts/apron etc
Carbon Dymag wheels
Silver alloys
Rear and front park sensors
Cobratrak 5
AP rotors
Pads
Running lights
Y-pipe
Paint Shield
HKS filter
HKS Conversion

...and few other bits and bobs.
