I can hear EVERYTHING!

After bumping a 3 year old post I think you need your eyes checking too.

I used the forum search and this thread seemed relevant. It contains previous posts that could be useful for forum members with hearing issues and I didn't see the point in making a new thread.

I've had ear issues for as long as I can remember (and hear?), suffered with "glue ear" since a child (Eustachian tube is a bit crappy) and have had many, many grommets. OP, I know exactly what you mean, it's quite satisfying isn't it? :D

I have to look after my ears, I am always flying and there is nothing worse than a blocked ear or an ear infection before a flight.

I always have a stash of antibiotics on me (counter purchase here, prescription not necessary) and I get my ears cleared regularly, issue or not.

The only thing you should put in your ear is your elbow.

I think I'm a bit weird then :).

After pushing the wax down to far to the point of deafness using a cotton bud and having to have my ear syringed, I monitor the wax build up myself with one of these:

5.5mm USB Endoscope

There's a knack to putting it in, a bit like ear plugs in that you pull your ear back from behind. Plus you need to have reasonably wide ear holes which I have from years of wearing IEMs.

Fascinating to see your own eardrum, it's like pearl. I'll spare you the pictures...unless you really want to see it (clean of course!).

The bonus too is you can use it to check the condition of your cylinders after removing the spark plugs :). I'm sure there are other places you could stick it :)!

I have had my ears syringed 3 times now at local doctors. The only issue with this is my doctors has some gorgeous nurses...like WOW, and having to get them to see and smell (the smell is the worse thing) your wax, is just...ugh
Also been to the hospital once to get them "professionally" done.
Apparently my ear canals are quite thin compared to normal and it causes an issue of wax coming out naturally on its own as it should.

I put olive oil into both ears once a week to help with the removal and I syringe them myself every 2 weeks (with a small syringe at very small flow/pressure rate). This is at the recommendation of my GP. Its a pain in the ass.

I watch a lot of those ear wax videos (I'm sick I know) and ended up buying my own cheap eBay endoscope kit so I can check my own ears out and mine are spotless now, which I then found out is actually bad for you as you need a little wax, FML :D

My ears become blocked now and again, last time I ended up at the hospital having them syringed. But it didn't hurt, it is the best release ever!

I use an ear bulb syringe, works a treat. Amazes me how many folk still use cotton buds to clean inside the ear and then complain about a blockage. :)

First I have heard of that. Used cotton buds my whole life without a problem and my hearing is very good. I hear conversations from far away and sometimes people are like, you heard that :p

But my partner on the other hand has waxy ears and her hearing is not as good and they are sensitive to wind. She has been to her GP on a couple of occasions who used a Otoscope and they say nothing wrong. Might give this ear bulb syringe thing a go and see if it helps her.

You guys should try this hearing test and see what you can hear. I can hear up to 18,000 Hz :)

Three years ago I became totally deaf, couldn't hear anything at all due to an illness. Took ages for my hearing to come back. It is a weird feeling.
