I cannot play games

Looks like something is hogging your CPU to me, you sure nothing is running in task manager thats using 100% cpu or loads of ram? sometimes programs dont close properly and they still run in task manager and slow down your system.

I've had the same problem as you before a few times.

I'd make sure something in the background isnt messing it in like a program or anti-virus.

Also for some reason if I dont close internet explorer or chrome my games lag, I have to make sure they're closed before I launch a game.

That sounds very possible.

I've had a real problem with MSN recently taking up 25% total CPU time on my machine (basically tying up one core completely), which was down to the flash ads on it - completely turning off MSN worked to fix the problem, as did using A Patch to disable the adverts.

I have fixed it...

Removed the D2X sound card and all games load up fast and I can play them...

I kinda wanted to play with my sound card though as I have the 350's. :p

I'm guessing you have tried the card in a different PCI-E slot? also using the latest drivers for the card?

Have you got onboard sound disabled in BIOS, when using your Asus Soundcard ???????? :p

Try the unified xonar drivers, the default Asus ones are bug ridden. Although they have got better over the past year, still has a few issues.
