I didn't realise Jeeps were fast!

I love your pub approach to cars...Keep expecting you to say "Yeah - Porsche engines go straight in a beetle...Straight swap, easy job, mate."

6.5 seconds at a push.

*n

I thought my coment was quite fair.
Even if people wouldnt take the X5 off road

Hmmmmm :p I backed off quite a bit around the bends due to the tyres losing grip. Didn't want to stack it.

Anyway, excuses aside... we'll see what happens when I get better tyres.

Oh, and just FYI, I'm using the same springs that Simon used to have on his 220 GSi-T.

Sigh........

Just get a Turbo and laugh hysterically when they get thrashed by a Rover!

This one's getting Turbo'd :)

Now come on agw, we've had this discussion a year ago.

BUY. A. TURBO.

Don't Turbocharge a rusty 220GSi, buy a mint GSi Turbo. You'll be happier in the long run :)

It really is FUN, embarrasing people in a 2 tonne car. It may have a heart attack when it comes to cornering quickly, but off the mark its very fun.

Perhaps if there is a SW MM this year, i will come in the Cobra. and take it easy.

I think we need one now I have a new car, i wanna take on those back roads in the puma ;)

I knew that was coming :)

Yes, we've had this discussion before... about a 5 door 214. The conversion would have been much much more difficult and would have been quite pointless in a 5 door car.

The 220 is absolutely perfect for a turbo conversion. It already has the same engine, engine mounts, gearbox, driveshafts, subframe, ECU... and cosmetically it's identical to a Turbo.

Decent turbo engines go for around £250-£300, sorting the rust will cost around £150-£200 (haven't looked into it yet).

I really appreciate your concern Fox, but I'm sorry to say that the GSi is staying. You all told me not to turbo the 214, so I didn't. I'd be stupid not to turbo the GSi when I've got the perfect base car right there!

Anyway, it isn't going to happen for while :)

Oh, and you'll say that I'll get raped for insurance... SgtTupac has just bought a converted GSi. He's younger and has less NCB than me and seems to manage alright.

While out on a gentle drive tonight in my FTO i stumbled across a little Jeep Grand Cherokee. We were plodding along single roads and then joined a dual carriageway where i thought i would show him a proper car..............

However, much to my annoyment, just as i floored it he did as well and i struggled to keep up

shortly after this it dropped back to single lane and i was right behind him as we came up to a roundabout exiting to dual carriageway again. Now by this time he obviously new i wanted to play and we took a lane each and floored it as much as we could. Much to my amazement he stayed with me all the way to 110 mph (on my private dual carriageway, obviously ;) ). At this point i was thinking my FTO must be down on power but it would appear that after some research it may not be -

A Jeep that does 0-60 in 7.1  Well, that explains why i had troubles keeping up :D

At least when i went past him i got a little flash off him for the fun ;)

is yours a GPX too? lol

Get yourself an RS clio, according to most of the members on cliosport they might not always win in a straight line, but will destroy anything in the twisties, lol :D

Well.. someone had to say it - as one would expect, Ferdinand Porsche engines indeed go straight in a beetle. Straight swap and not too complicated job. :D

My RAV4 will dispatch 60 in 6.3 seconds and will destroy anything built by Jeep in twisties (driver skill being equal) clicky .

Not too shaby for a hardresser's car. :D

Just don't try taking it up the side of a mountain. ;)

This is becuase the Citroen Xsara is a remarkably decent handling car - it is, after all, mechanically the same as the 306.

Whereas the Rover 220... well, it had miles more grunt and couldn't lose it ;)
Everyone ph3rs my Xsara. It's not a 1.4, oh no, it's not a 1.6, that would just be silly, it's the most powerful engine ever produced by PSA - the 1.8 16v!! With the same amount of grip to the road as a nutcase on reality, my Xsara is the ultimate race car!

Seriously though, after driving a Xsara for 6 months now, I can tell the car handles quite well indeed. Despite being shod with wheelbarrow tyres from Homebase, it can still corner with some pace :p

Watch out agw - I'm coming to get joo!

Theres a Dodge Ram near where i live. That thing flew away from us at a stupid pace and this was following in a 330 BMW. Saw it parked a few weeks later, it was called an ST something i think, but damn it was fast.

Probably an SRT-10. 0-60 in not much more than 5 seconds, with an 8.3L V10 pushing 500HP. No wonder it left the 330 for dust :p

how is it not real?

Sorry it's just the way you said it, like showing him a 'real car', IE you were showing off to some ladies in your speed machine. FTO does 0-60, in what 7 seconds? The auto at a sluggish 8, its not like a speed demon. It's a nice car for your mums mid life crisis imo.

the average common or garden car out there would do 60 is 10 secs.

the GPX (and im no fanboy) has 100bhp/litre, a tiny, raspy, gem of a V6 that revs to a trillion. it is regarded as a good handling car on a similar par to the integra r.

in the grand scheme id say its much more special than your average motors out there etc.

what do you drive? do you drive at all? have you had an fto?
