In last years inclement weather for example the only way to get live service updates from the local BUS company of all people was to use the bus companies facebook page.
They have a perfectly good website which they could have used. I can see how this would be frustrating if you've chosen not to use Facebook, along with numerous movies, new products, etc etc being advertised with only a Facebook link to find out more.
Don't use the bus then.
