I feel like I'm... done with gaming?

it's because games are all samey and quite rubbish last few years imo

While old comment, I've been looking at most FPS games on twitch and it's nearly all Battle Royale for multiplayer.

I haven't lost interest in gaming at all but what I do find annoying is how it appears nearly every developer must all follow the same trend.

That is a good point. Way too many generic copy an paste games today.

I have such a backlog that I either need to play or finish. I can just avoid these types of games for now.

play mp games with groups on voice coms. i dont get how people can play single player games. voice coms and gaming with friends is the best part of gaming.

Over the past 2 weeks I've spent over $250 on games, yet I'm still bored. These blips happen. Just pick up a game you once loved and get stuck into it to resurrect that passion.

ATM the only game I can stick with is PUBG (and probably only because I play with my brother online). At 34 I prefer watching lets play videos and doing other things at the same time.

I find it best to do a bit of both.

You can just sit back and chill in a single player game. And if you want something faster paced then go with a bit of multiplayer.

Due to my domestic situation, my gaming PC and other computer gear is now all packed away in preparation for moving out, and I have to say, at the moment I'm missing it like hell - hopefully that's a good sign ... can only get better when I splurge the cash on a new machine :D

It’s a glorious feeling, doing mine at the minute :D

Another note is maybe save up and do a system rebuild? Nothing crazy, maybe upgrade storage and possibly PSU along with a new case? I recently overhauled my case setup and it brought me back in. Gave me the fizz to be ripping apart my PC and rebuilding it better than I previously did.

This is common now, nothing to do with your age at all, now gaming is a huge market that literally everybody dabbles in to some degree, developers have to try and create products that appeal to as many potential customers as possible. This results in well, 2018 gaming I guess. Slurp Juice fuelled microtransaction garbage left right and centre because it's what the masses want, majority of 'gamers' now play video games because it's the thing to do, it's what news articles and their peers tell them to do, not because it's something they enjoy a great deal. This resulted in games focusing on giving the player as much as possible for as little effort on their part as possible and lock them behind paywalls, so the entitled masses can beat the game with money and move on hastily to the next hype game of the month.

It's only going to get worse, so you got out at the right time.

I actually have to force myself to play games sometimes and then I get frustrated because there are such big gaps between play sessions I forget where I'm meant to be going and what the buttons are.

A thousand times this. :D

I love the build process so much. There are several real special moments, but my favs are : looking at the stack of goodies just before you begin, when leaktesting goes perfectly, that first proper post.

And of course when it’s all done and you’re trying to game / benchmark but youre constantly distracted looking over at its beauty. :D

I must post the log soon, I have to tear it all down and fit a new pump though :(

If I ever feel like this it’s usually just temporary boredom and I just take a little break and jump back in

I’ll tell you what really helped me keep my passion for gaming for so many years :

1. I alternate between games rather than try to complete one quickly this way I don’t burn myself out
2. Keep upto date with technology, buying an OLED tv and a good sound system was one of the best purchases I’ve made and made gaming so much more immersive .
3. Revisit old games , my examples halo series , half-life , mass effect , dead space
4. Have other hobbies and interests , mine are drones , hifi , music , photography, running , movies
5. Be mindful and try not to be too critical or pessimistic, try to Appreciate the small details and the amazing work and detail that goes into games (coming from a zx spectrum veteran ) , I have replayed uncharted 4 so many times and never get bored as the detail and immersion is stunning , the new halo update is also amazing and really tajes halo to new level of immersion .

I noticed when I'd finished my playthrough I'd only got 43/105 treasures or something like that, so clearly I'd missed half of what was on offer. I was indeed rushing through it, should have spent a bit longer on each level (maybe one chapter per day instead of three).

I game very little these days, I do not really like the current generation of gaming it's just not the same any more. The golden age has passed.

I'm in my mid thirties so there's plenty of better things to do anyway, so maybe it's a good thing.

Yeah, I did a system rebuild back in June. I did enjoy doing it, but still didn't back into games at all.

BUT, now I have this X34P monitor, I find I can't wait to have the time to fire up a game. Finished one game in three days (The Old Blood, so not really a long one, but still), and keen to get into RoTR next!

Very nice early Christmas present to myself!

Mine hasn’t been unpacked from my recent move almost 8 weeks ago and I haven’t missed it at all. A sad state of affairs.
