I felt tortured, at my hairdressers.

To be honest I'd fussy about my hair, always have been, hate barber cuts because they ruin it - I've been to many over the years.

I now go to Toni & Guy with a top 'stylist' who knows me (3 years), cuts my hair the way I like it without needing to ask me what I want. I guess you get what you pay for.

I don't find £45 a month an issue, it's the 'norm' now.

As for the OP - most definitely homo-molestation. :p

For £45 what do they do exactly? happy ending included or something for such a fee?

Boggles the mind.

£35 Toni & Guy = Hairwash + head massage from some fit chick, free tea, top class cut and some banter from equally fit chick.

£6 = gay fumble from someone who only knows how to use a shaver from trimming his knuckle hair.

Hmmm lemme think for a min :)

I was doing the london T&G thing too...until...

Got friendly with my 'regular' (who's fit as...). Go to her house now for a personal service, only 15 quid :D

Agree with Edleake.

I've had the same person for 2-3 years now, knows exactly how I like my hair, she also enjoys cutting it as I give her freedom really, whereas other clients are nitpicky and just want 'boring' cuts.

She threatens me that if I go to someone else she will kill me, and them :D

Find a another Barbershop then if you need to pay £35 for a fit chick to cut your hair?!

My local down the road is £7.50 and she's as sound as a pound ;-) her daughter is not half bad either :p

What kind of hair do you have to require skill to cut? it's hair not a football ground :p

Pics!

Does anyone else pay £45 for a male haircut?

I pay that every six weeks for a haircut. I'm sure many will think it not worth it, but they do go to a lot of trouble. Differences compared to a standard barber's cut I would say are:

  • Own private room in which to get your hair cut
  • Complimentary drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic
  • Your own TV to watch what you like
  • Wash
  • A cut by a top stylist whereby they take the time to cut the hair properly. i.e. if you want grade x around the sides and back they do it with scissors and not the razor. This results in a better finish to the hair.

For a top stylist in central London it is not that extortionate. I know some places that will charge up to £100 for what is essentially a wash and cut.

These guys know what they're doing and when you think of the rent in a prime location and then find out that it costs them £500 for a pair of scissors you can begin to understand why it costs a little more than a back street place.

For 10 years I shaved my head myself and if I had the same length hair all over I'd do the same, particularly with the new ceramic clippers that just glide around the head in a minute or two. But now I've grown it out and need it to be "styled" I'm happy to pay for a good job.

Maybe I should start paying £35 instead of £5, then I will not be tortured, or felt, or uncomfortable. Thank you for the recommendations. Is Toni and Guy a good hairdressers to go to?

OK, that is my last haircut from that place I am having. I am truly sick of it!

Can anyone recommend a good hairdressers in Stoke which does not cost £30? :p
