I finally bought a DSLR!

Bah.. Im trying! But the threads arent aligning.
Its a Jessops UV 55mm lens onto the 18-55 AFS VR Nikkor Lens.

I hope you enjoy the D60, I know I'm loving my D40X...although I already want some new lenses.

EDIT: Carefully place it flat against the lens...with the lens pointed at the ceiling. They can be a bit of a pain to get on right. I recently got a 52mm one from there, and sometimes it doesn't want to go on.

It IS on the front of the lens that we're supposed to screw the filter onto right

yes the front but that lens has a 52mm thread, you have been sold the wrong filter

How do you know the lens thread is 52mm? (Where would it tell you this information... i.e. for future reference)

it should be on the end of the lens, next to a circle with a line through the middle of it.

back end of the lens, on the bottom that is

Get lens and filter...

Put filter on end of lens...

Screw filter on...

...and you are done.

I realise I am slow and GeX has pointed out it's a 52mm thread, not 55mm...but I wanted to be annoying anyway.

I'll grab myself a 52mm lens later on.

I got a BAD feeling Im gonna be sucked into the world of photography big time.
