I have finally bought an ipod, even though I am planning to just leave it in my glovebox and wire it in to my new headunit! Supposedly on some survey conducted by MSN the 3 most studenty things were 1) ipods, 2) facebook and 3) beer. haha

My sister bought one today and theyre a lot of hassel ill tell you that.

Itunes is sucha waste of time, why cant they just let you drag and drop tracks via explorer?

Agreed, I just use my mobile phone + a 4GB memory card instead.

iTunes is more or less drag and drop, if people have a hard time working out how iTunes works you shouldn't be on a computer let alone own an iPod.

Yeah, I agree. iTunes is really easy.

Just make sure you persuade Apple to replace your battery within the year warranty. My iPod Mini couldn't hold a charge after about 15 months and Apple wanted £79 to replace the battery.

ipods are great I have (relatively) old Nano (1GB) and its great, Itunes automatically updates my podcasts so in the morning on the way to work / uni I can listen to the mornings news.

Maybe im wrong, i only spent like 5-10 mins messing around with it + ive never used it before.

Ipods are too expensive imho, paying for the name, when you can get a 4gb Cretive equivalent for loads less.

is there anyway i can get all my music on my server and have it then accessible from 2 different PCs on the home network at the same time?

Actually, minus the crap batteries I think they're pretty good. Sound quality is great, very easy to use, never locked up on me, syncs with the PC easily and they look smart.

Not much more I'd want from an MP3 player tbh.

There are alternative programs to iTunes that won't rape your anus, flip you over and go in for seconds if you try and 'borrow' a mates tunes or dare to plug it into another PC.

Yamipod for instance. The iPod shuffles have the best SQ of the lot, not sure how or why they managed that. Giving the cheapest 'pod the best SQ. :/

Interesting, as the sound quality has always been one of the major let downs of the iPod.

Yes mate, make sure all your computers are on the same domain / workgroup

right click > share

pretty much it. if you get stuck make a post in networking forum :)

(then once its shared either access via my network places or go right clikc my computer > map network drive)

itunes is easy, but personally id like to have the choice of drag and drop. sold my ipod shuffle becuase it didnt have that about it.. now use my k800i.

Agree with everything pretty much, my iPod video battery died after a month, it wouldn't last long before going to 'Red', took like an hour for that to happen!

Got it replaced in December and be fine since, still though it's not a very long lasting battery, I blame the fact the screen doesn't turn itself off when playing music, completely pointless.
