I finally bought an ipod

Interesting, as the sound quality has always been one of the major let downs of the iPod.

Always been great for me, the sennheisers I got with mine were very good. Not fantastic but I was very pleased with them. :)

I payed a lot for my 5th gen Ipod video as there wasn't much I could find to compete at the time. I barely use it now and I am actually embarrassed to have it out in public. I see so many ******* walking around the high street with one either:
A:Around the neck
B:Holding it in their hands face out so everyone can see what it is and how cool they are.

The headphones are cheap **** and will break within 6 months and the battery will rarely last long enough to actually play a decent length video. If I had my time again I would probably get a shuffle and save the cash, my Ipod is used as a portable hard drive when it's not sat in the draw.

I wont have Itunes on the pc because it likes to eat memory in the background, but it's not a particularly offensive program to use when installed(apart from initial Ipod plug in).

From the ipods ive played with they are fine. but i have noticed the creatives just have an edge.. but you need something like a nice pair of sennheisers to notice. after me mate simon (nomisf) made me listen to his zen through them im hooked. wouldnt buy anything other than sennheisers now.

Yeah, I agree. iTunes is really easy.

People who moan about iTunes are retarded so I completely agree with you.

The only thing I don't like is the way if you put songs on your iPod from one computer, you can't themupload them to another computer. Legal reasons I am sure but still annoying.

iTunes is pretty easy. I copy over a whole load of songs to the "music" bit but most of the time i create a new playlist and drag and drop my songs for the day into there.

My 2gig nano has been going strong for a year, battery has went totally flat ONCE! and it takes a lot of abuse from me using it daily and using it on my bike.

I am t e h MS fanboy. Zune F T W!*

*I don't own a zune. I have owned a 3rd gen ipod and iRiver though. iRiver was sweet but a little big.

I have had my 30GB 5th gen iPod for about a year and a half and its still going, battery last for ages still as well so I'm happy with mine, it certainly keeps me entertained on the bus.

I cant be arsed with iTunes though so I just sync it with Winamp, much better!

Yeah that is horrible! I only just found that out. OK so I have my library on my Desktop, I now want that along with all my playlists on my laptop. How do I do that? The music is easy to copy across but the playlists I am not so sure about, I have spent hours carefully choosing them so I'd rather not do it all again!

No-one is disputing that Itunes is very easy to use, that doesnt make it good though does it ? Enforced (dire) file formats, stupid organisation on the ipod etc etc

Why does anyone go out to eat, when microwave meals are so much easier ;)

Or they have an opinion...

Personally I don't like itunes, I prefer napster, doesn't lock you to one player and I like the monthly rental system/radio rather than itunes just buying outright.

I think anything with "i" infront of it is bloody retarded tbh. I mean almost everything is "i" this and "i" that.

Enforced? Only on buying the songs, all my songs are mp3s, maybe I can't record to ogg but that's no big loss to me. What's the 'stupid organisation' anyways?

I have a shuffle and it does me fine, it's nice and small and I can barely feel that I have it on me, I prefer not to have a screen or I always just scroll through songs and never leave it playing long enough. :)

They started it though and have been using it for years now, blame the media and the love for everything 'i' that has expanded it all. :p

Stupid organization?

It is not stupid at all, what a silly comment.

Also is MP3 a dire format?

Well I too have gone down the iPod route very recently, my Nano and Nike+ kit should be arriving tomorrow or Monday.

I hadn't expected to buy one, but I got a voucher at work for John Lewis, and had nothing else that I needed to get at the time. I'm actually really looking forward to it, more for the Nike+ than the actual music playing part.

iPods are cool, my 3G one is still going strong on its 3rd battery (they're easy to change). Just got some wireless headphones for it.

Drag 'n' drop is so old fashioned, you people need to get with the times! If you want drag and drop you can just sync a playlist with it and add stuff you want to the playlist. I have that as well as a recently added playlist and most played and stuff so that the stuff I just got/ recently listened to is always on there!

I must admit I was quite shocked by iTunes myself. My gf has an iPod and it seems far too overcomplicated for my liking. For a start it often doesn't detect the ipod unless it was plugged in when windows booted up (even though it is displayed fine in explorer).

To be honest it's the whole 'library' thing I have trouble getting to grips with. You can't just copy over mp3s into the music folder, you have to add them to the library as well before syncing.

My cheapo ATMT mp3 player (£100 for 20gig around 18 months ago) looks rubbish and has a clunky interface with tiny screen, but as a player it does what I want. Putting music on there couldn't be easier, I just copy it over in explorer (or send-to location) and it picks it all up flawlessly. Comes with some software of course but I've never even bothered installing it.
