Just drinking tea and reading manuals atm, probably won't push it to 5ghz just yet, will stick to about 4.6.

Was considering getting H50, but may go full watercooled in the near future so didn't want a massive initial outlay.

Ok, just stuck a 40 multiplier on it, upped the voltage a bit, running 4ghz. There were a few things turned off in the bios earlier so it meant that the cpu was maxxing out at 3.4ghz. Going to run 3DMark11 now.....

Whenever I go above 45 multi I get BSOD, setting voltage to 1.35v, CPU PLL to 1.9v but won't let me do a thing. I can get into BIOS at 5ghz, but anything above 4.5ghz when trying to get into Windows = bsod. Obviously, there is nothing on the net about oc'ing these boards

I think mine will easily do 4.9ghz, just got to get into the finer points of the bios. After all, changing 2 settings takes you to 4.2ghz at 1.2v

Last benchmark of the day

4.2ghz at 42 multi and 110 ring bus oc 1.21v ram now 1600mhz instead of 1333mhz as earlier runs

Has broken 10k for the physics which is good enough for me (so far!)

and XFX Black Edition at 1050/1250/1.250v

For some reason, whatever I set the vcore in the bios to, it stays at stock volts. So i've been running 4.2ghz on stock volts!!!

Any pointers with MSI bios's??

Updated the UEFI bios to the latest and now running 4.5 ghz at 1.3vcore

Just went into the bios and did the live update via the net, said it was doing this and that and rebooted, then when setting vcore it stuck!

Ram is at 1600mhz atm, aiming for 4.8ghz so will touch it when i've achieved that lol. In the bios it's pretty simple and lets you choose 800/1066/1333/1600/1800/2000 etc etc as it's not linked with FSB or anything olde worlde like that

CM Hyper 212+ is good, idle temps at 4.5ghz are 31ºc with 50% fan and max I saw is 68ºc when running prime95 small fft for 20 mins, fan had ramped up to 67.5%

You can disable turbo and speedstep and leave it running at its max, or enable them and let it downclock itself.

Yes, boot into UEFI then select live update, it then does it all for you!
